I got this idea from Furvilla.

So in Furvilla you can subscribe to threads. Basically this means that every single time someone posts, you get a message. This would be useful because then we wouldn't need to use pinglists as much and if you are part of a group then you can subscribe to get notifications.

What about the ones that do a lot of posts every day?

most forums have this, that I have seen. For ones that get a lot of post, you get one ping for each post.

With Sylestia's current set up, I can see that part being problematic, since there isn't a separate page for pings.

However, some forums also have the ability to choose whether to get each post pings, pings hourly, weekly, daily etc.. so the ping issue could be mitigated by not pinging for every post, but rather hourly if there has been a post.
