I really want to make a few breeding pairs inspired and designed after clowns, mimes, jesters, etc. Circus-y stuff like that! I'm just wondering what genes would be the best for this, and maybe even species, so I know what to look for. I'm still new and really have no idea how most of this stuff works still x'D.
For clowns, I imagine bright colors and some silly stuff I guess? But mimes would be darker colors like black, purple or blue striped with white. Stuff like that. Please let me know of genes and species that would fit this well. I'm not entirely sure how to use the generator either (not that I can afford it, I just want to test it out)

you dont need anything to mess w/ the generator. if you want to make a pet thats different, but its free to make designs. play around with all the species/traits, get used to how they work, ect

its prob better to make the design+ get a plan before breeding.

Oh for sure! And yeah, I needa try messing around in it again. For some reason I was having issues with it and couldn't figure out how to preview the design like I did when I made my first pet when I joined the game. Was prob doing something wrong.

I tried making a design of a clown griffi for you that you can use if you'd like. Most likely, something like this might be a bit too expensive and a lot of work (needs at least 3 griffi essences and some dyes, plus ~8 generations of breeding), but thought I would share what I made when thinking of clowns.

Some traits and species that might be good for you to use are Spade Tail and Foo Dog Armor in luffs, Circus Wear and various other traits in qits, and Milk Snake in Ny'venes. Harlequin in lups works as well, and it's easy enough to find regen lups to make pairs out of compared to the other options. I would suggest using traits with very clear-cut lines and avoiding gradients.

The easiest species to make pairs out of are currently lunes and lups, and possibly puffs, venes, and kelps if you're willing to do some searching. Good luck!
