Today was the day. All the teenagers turning sixteen this year were packed up, and sent to caldera with the mystical, and abandoned "City of Glass". There were two groups of people during this time. Those who stayed and silently waited out their time, or those who went adventuring to the city. There are rumors about why it was abandoned, and some want to know the truth. It's time for all the teens to start arriving, and the choice is theirs. For our fateful four, their journey is now beginning as they are dropped off at the caldera.

(I hope this was okay enough!! Sorry if it's bland or anything! (^-^")

The cool breeze ruffled the leaves in the trees above, it was a pleasant spring day in which the weather was just getting warm. The sweet smells of growing fruits and blooming flowers made the breeze just that more pleasant, and the sounds of the songs of birds up in the trees was one of beauty. The forest was peaceful just as any other day, yet there was just something special about the day.. It was something almost dark, yet exciting. Calm, yet somehow unsettling. It was just something one could not figure out how it was just wrong. Finally, Esmerelda let out a sigh. She was at the end of her wits, she just couldn't figure it out. She was at the end of the village, waiting for the people she would be leaving with, her body leaned against a pole. She, although troubled within had a graceful smile upon her lips, and her eyes held a certain warmth and kindness to them. She wanted to just start the adventure but it was almost as if something was holding her back, pleading with her to not do what she was about to be doing.. but she wouldn't listen, she knew she needed to do this, and that is just what she would do. The tree behind here was providing her shade, and for some reason a flame was still lit in the lantern post she was leaning upon. It was likely just because it was early in the morning, and because of this the lap hadn't run out of fuel just yet.

( Sorry for the lame surprise, but I did a virtual novel style art piece for an intro for Esme! I didn't do hands as they are painful to draw..)

Iziuel Karis

Iziuel has never been a "normal" girl, and that was even present now as she sat on a branch around six feet off the ground. She hummed a melody softly to herself, leaning against the smooth bark of the tree. Sixteen years. It wasn't long to most people, but it seemed like forever to be alive. Her blonde bangs hung over her face, and she blew them off her face.
Her aunt and uncle didn't even bother to say a goodbye. It didn't surprise her, but sometimes, it hurt just a little. Her nose caught the sweet smell of the air, giving her a refreshing feeling. She liked the smell of spring.

Nuvian Chronos

Nuvian was currently sitting under a tree a little ways from Iziuel. The warm breeze almost sent shivers down his spine. He didn't care much for warm weather. He came from a village higher in the mountains, so the climate was different down here. His white hair was enough to make him stand out in the greens, pinks, and browns of the forest.
"This is pointless." He said with a small sigh, staring at the forest canopy. "I don't know anyone from the lower regions of the mountains."

Esmerelda was calm still, watching the forest in the distance. She was.. afraid to go into them. Much more afraid then one that had ventured them many times before should be. It was odd, odd because she just wanted to go back to the village and back to her usual life.. She was too scared, it frightened her to be alone. More so because she had already been alone for so long.. but with no one around it might make it much worse. Finally, she mustered up the courage and finally moved forward, walking into the forest alone.. telling herself it was to be fine.

Coolio.

"If you should survive this Rite, you will be accepted fully into our people as a full adult, no longer but a child."
Keris tapped her foot, hoping he would be done talking soon. She knew her impatience stemmed only from apprehension and fear of what lay ahead, but it didn't stop her from being annoyed.
"Good uck and fair winds," their leader called. "Please take your places."
Almost all of the Caldera was plunging cliffs to a lush valley floor, but here was a steep, fide stone staircase carved into the chalky white stone by the people who had once lived in the Glass Castle. Even from here, its spires and turrets, even most of the upper castle, was visible above the trees.
Keris moved to stand on one of the several dozen pedestals ringing the Great Staircase. She tried to make eye contact with each person she passed. Even though it wasn't a competition, many people ended up killing each other to survive.
"On my call," he cried. "Ready, set-"

Who wants to say go?!

" Go! " The man said, and Esmerelda rushed off into the forest. She was scared of being alone but she didn't know who else was sent out very well.. and was afraid they were dangerous. She was soon emerged in a unknown part of the forest, one she hadn't dared to venture just yet. It was a little frightening but she didn't let it get to her. I must do this, I must continue on and prove myself. She told herself, just wanting to be accepted by the others as she never had been before. She had only taken a few things with her, along with a small satchel of stuff to survive. It was just the basics, but she felt a lot safer with it. Soon, she was wandering the forest aimlessly, she would find her way.. eventually..

Iziuel Karis

Iziuel was off like a bullet, racing every other teenager currently running. Just as she reached the first trees of the forest, she jumped onto a branch to swing herself up. Running with everyone else would give he rless of an advantage. She heard some got brutal with their killings. Once she had jumped across a few trees, and no longer heard the stampede of running, she caught her breath on a larger tree that cloaked her with bushy leaves. This was crazy, but even deep inside her, she loved the thrill.

Nuvian Chronos

Nuvian had decided to take the route that everyone else didn't take. He avoided running in their direction. He was a dead giveaway in this place. White hair in the pinks, greens, and browns of the forest. This wasn't going to be an easy place to camouflage in, so he would have to rely on his speed to avoid people.
