Number 1 advice:

The breeding generator is "meh" at best when it comes to details. Naming your breeders with project tags ( ie: NK G13 M123) will allow you to know *immediately* what traits a pet has, and what it needs to breed to for potential 6-trait. ( ie: NK G123 M23 ) Male needs a G2, female needs an M1, breed them together and the offspring is a potential 6-trait pet.

Getting to 6-trait is the first step to getting to 6V, and the more 6-traits you have breeding together the more likely you are to get a finished product. Ergo, knowing which pet to breed with which for 6-trait is essential for making progress.

Tagging your pets also allows for easy sorting with the advanced search, since you can isolate *ALL* of your project pets on one quick list that also allows you to further refine your results. ( ie: if I want to know how many 6-trait NK Faes I have, I can look up pets named NK owned by ID 10307 and set all 6 traits to "either" )

Number 2 advice:

Maximize your breeding potential and reduce stable clutter.

Males have the *greatest* range of just being excess wastes of space. It technically takes just *TWO* non-related males ( as in they do not share a mother or father, and one is not the father of the other ) and you can just about guarantee full breedability with the females. 3 nonrelated males is more ideal if possible, just to cover the occasional rare oversight of a female being the daughter of male1 and the half-sister of male2, meaning it can't breed with either. Get a 3rd that's non-related to the other two and you should be good.

Currently it looks like your 5-trait males are the top dogs, particularly these two which are 3V2C.

Ideally, breeding these two with as many females as they can breed with will maximize your offspring results; they have the highest potential to offer to the genepool and between the two, you have all 6 traits covered. For any females that can't be bred to either, choose one of your other 5-traits. Once you know which males - preferably all 5-trait - that it takes to clear all of the females for breeding, the rest can be considered excess that can be booted.

Using anything *less* (such as the 4-traits) would be a waste of a 3-day cooldown. Sure, there's still potential for a good result still, but you're better off trying to pass 5 traits rather than just 4. You'll be chasing your tail with endless sub-par results unless you strive for maximizing the offsprings' potential, adding months of wasted time to your project load.

For females, they're the real ones worth the stable space. Each cooldown is another egg, and another chance at an *improved* pet for the next generation. I try to keep mine within 2 trait slots of the top males (ie: once I have 5-trait males, any females with 3-traits are on the chopping block unless I have fewer than 10 adult females in which case, I need eggs so they can stay another week ) up until I have an abundance of 6-traits. ( once you have plenty of 6-traits to breed, you may as well boot anything that doesn't have all the slots filled. Even a 6-carry is worth more than a 5V0C; the 6-carry *can* actually give you a 6V with the right stroke of luck, while a 5V0C will *ALWAYS* leave one slot missing off the potential visibles.)

* More care needs to be taken if/when you're aiming for multiple traits. In which case, keep track of your best pet for each trait in the project. ( ie: G1A is on a 5-trait; G1B is on a 4-trait; G1C is on a 2-trait; be sure you keep the 2-trait, breed it to your best pets possible to try and raise G1C's ranking to a 4-trait or 5-trait, and then boot the 2-trait once a proper replacement is hatched. Then focus back on just breeding the best of the best. )

My breeders quickly live out their purpose and get the boot. Failed hatchings are cast out immediately while ones with potential are named with a simple tag, then booted once they, too, run their course of usefulness. I have released 50,325 pets, 19,827 of which were hatchlings. I will fully admit that my methods are cutthroat.

But ya can't argue with the results! If I was sentimental and kept *everything* I would never have the stable space to keep up with all my projects. And, of course, my final product breeders are all properly named and treasured <3

I'm flattered to be on your list of favorite breeders!

I agree 100% with Xavion about most things...with the exception of naming for organisation. With the last update to the Advanced Search system, searching for PBO became possible (and made my life so much easier when picking my best breeding pairs). Now I can just search for all my adults of any given theme, and easily see possible matches when I look through them.

And while Xavion calls releasing pets that aren't going to further your project "cutthroat", I call it efficient! Those critters are free to go live happy little lives in the world. With half a dozen 'Vorpa projects constantly in progress, I can't afford to stable every little cutie, and I'm not keen to sell my hard-earned genetic combinations until they're done and have my figurative stamp on them.

What's helped me most is keeping my stables METICULOUSLY organised. Every stable, every tab. I've been told I do an amazing amount of breeding and projects with so little space...
