I stumbled on this by accident, but if you have an empty mailbox and click on a line as though you were reading a mail, a popup comes up requesting that you wait a few seconds between each request. Clicking OK on that brings up a white popup as though you were reading a message, but with no message (as there is none) and no way to get rid of it save for reloading the page.
