I stupidly bought several traps that didn't work lol, now I need about 10k more gold for the three-pet upgrade. Any tips?

The main suggestion that can be made is to check out the Guide to making gold and the Guide to missions and mission pets in the Player Guides forum

You shouldn't really have to look- most of the important information that's been made into a Guide is pinned to the top of the Player Guides forum.
Also, to Ping a user you either hit the blue @ button in the bottom of one of their posts in a thread (which lets you see that particular post while you type your own reply), or just add their username to the Ping Users box above the main message box (separated by ,'s if more than one.)
