I encountered an egg in the Nightfall Bandit Camp while I was training up some pets I have and encountered an orange egg. I clicked on the adopt the egg of the left and then looked in my hatchery and couldnt't find the egg. Is this a glitch?

If you don't have the egg in your Hatchery, then either it was submitted to leave it or something happened to it - like it broke. I know there are scripted events where you can fail to adopt an egg, but I'm not 100% certain on where they appear at throughout the story.
At this point in time though, there wouldn't be anything that I could do. Temporary pets are purged from the database as soon as they are either created into real pets or left behind.
