Hey, everyone! The days are counting down to November 1 which is in less than a week! Are you panicking about ideas? Wondering who can help you edit it? Who can help you flesh it out? Do you want to help others with their writing? Wondering if such a Skype chat exists? WELL! There is such a thing! Want to get into the Skype NaNo Chat? I can add you into that chat! Isa can as well as LunarShinobi.

Anyways, my shameless advertising of that chat aside, who's planning to participate?

I'm...still debating participating...I haven't won yet, and i tend to not do well with goals and deadlines like that. @-@ Still thinking about it though...

I haven't been writing lately, either...sooo, yeah. Haven't been in the mood. if I do participate, it might just be to get myself writing again. I don't have a plot or anything yet. And witht he festival starting, its gonna be really hard to get started on a new novel XD I'll have so much else to do!

-has, in this short message, realized she is really just making kinda stupid excuses for herself and is now probably more likely to join in XD-

(I dont think this desktop has skype, sadly...my laptop does though. I'll see if i can install it on the desktop.)

I won (completed) the challenge in 2011 with a novel about an American pilot who survives the destruction of most of the country's major cities and all of its high-end technology by means of fusion and EMP bombs, then discovers that the attack was perpetrated by key members of the NSA. The pilot finds an old Cold War spy plane that was protected from the EMPs that fried everything from circuit boards to LEDs, and in doing so discovers a counterplot that failed to protect the country from the coup. She has a choice whether to forget what she knows and just try to survive, or to use the only flyable aircraft left to attempt to contact and unite the remaining resistance cells in order to wrest the country out from under the people who now run it - the same people who caused its destruction.

Anyway. I did not participate last year because I was a brand new mom, and learning about keeping a baby alive took up all my resources. I will be joining again this year, although I have a much more vague idea about what to write.

I did it last year, with a harry potter fanfic, and loved it. I found it very free and inspiring to write so fast with no time to edit. Since then I've done two camp nanos as well, but the last one kinda killed all my desire to write for some reason, and I'm only just getting back to it now. So, I'm unsure whether to do it this year or not, I wasn't going to, but now I'm tempted. *sighs*

If I do, I'll either rebel and try to finish one of my two extremely long Harry Potter fanfics, or I'll write a series of short stories.

Good luck with it everyone!

You don't need a plot - don't worry! Start with an idea and just write, even if it seems like nonsense. I always thought the point of the exercise was to inspire creativity without the restraint of outlines, character development sketches, or thematic boundaries. Just write, and see what comes out. My 2011 effort surprised me in a lot of ways, most of them positive.
