I have found quite a few lost egglings and hatchlings before, but I want to know how common/rare they are. Does anything affect the chance of finding abandoned Sylesti's? I kinda forgot how it works.

It kind of depends on where you're exploring. They're more common in some areas than others. Going off your level, I'm going to guess you're in the Lost Grove. Lost Grove eggs are rather rare. You can increase your chances of finding one by releasing pets that are over 42 days old.
