Right this moment I have a very annoying recurring issue that I'm once again having to debate over: to name an egg while fully knowing that I will have to invest in yet another philter of amnesia to fix the name after it hatches, or to not name the pet and risk forgetting to add the prismatic philter entirely...

I hate this. Every single time it leaves me feeling frustrated that I'll have to buy more and more and more philters of amnesia when this can all be solved if I could set the philter NOW rather than waiting.

Here's the pet:

*Note: given the stress and annoyance that naming this bugger has caused me, I have since decided to name the linked Rikki "Cheeky Little Stressball." While this will work for the one, I will still have at least 27 other traits to clear for the theme and the project is far from over; this won't work for all of them because traits I end with doubles of will be the first set of "I owe yous" for the players who helped me get the traits and breeders to begin with, and I'd rather not give them pets with names because that's what I had to do to remember to philter them. So my point remains! >_<

I could name it CC 1910 as a reminder that it needs a prismatic philter to reach that from its current 1710, but with the right amount of nurturing it may in fact become my very first Maxed Stats Rikki. Do I want that to be named "CC 1910" for the rest of its life? Of course not. Do I want to buy more and more and more amnesia philters to fix it along with the other 4+ Rikki that I'll be hatching this week alone? No. I've already gone through several amnesia philters in the last month and even had to reclaim some pets from the wild because after they reach 100 in stats, nurtures raised the health of the pet beyond the moniker and thus the name misconveys the actual stat progress of the pet and I released them thinking they were below the bar because the name said so and they were actually my best at the time but I couldn't afford to rename them. (Granted, that's another issue entirely that would be fixed with the infinite amnesia philter I've also been begging for.)

What I'm begging for this time around is to be able to set the philter in place NOW, right now when it's still an egg, at the first time I look at the pet and know exactly what I need for it. I can't even count the times I've named pets "Vigor" "Precision" "Acumen" "Nimbleness" "Philter" and so on just so I can remember 3 days later that out of the 10-100 or so egg I'll be hatching at the time that THOSE are the ones I picked as philter-worthy... And then, provided I can afford even MORE amnesia philters, I have to change the names as soon as they hatch. Or in their cases because I couldn't afford it or the philters weren't available on the market at all... just deal with it. I also can't count how many times I thought "Mmm... nah, surely I won't forget to philter it" only to be swarmed with RL stuff 3 days later and lo and behold, I forget about that 1 egg out of 40 I hatch that day that needed a floofin' philter. >__<

I think a "set and forget" function would save stats breeders (also potentially themed pet collectors) a lot of hassle. Breed some eggs, test to see the stats, pick the ones worth it, and preemptively set them to hatch with a philter applied. Instead of naming it "Philter" to remember later to philter it, just GIVE IT the stats philter right then and there.

Additional thought, now that we no longer have the releasing contest for people to freak out about, can we please just release unwanted eggs again? I know from the start when a stats attempt won't be worth it in the project and yet I'm stuck sitting on it for three days thinking "Ugh, I want you GONE! You had a range of 1241-1443 and came out with 1256; you're worthless to me >_< " It'd be easier to keep track of all of this if I didn't have to stare at the failed results that I know I don't need to bother with. Same with mistaken breedings as well; trying to breed only the 150 mana aurleon but I have a 125 mana one from an egg and no one's bought the female yet, so occasionally I accidentally breed her and don't want the reduced mana in my genepool. -.-

(And yes, I am a very irritated Xav right now. Forgetting to philter the right pets could set me back a month, even two months or more of progress, especially if I'm dealing with traits that refuse to pass and breeding results that keep spitting out stats that are too low to deserve philtering at all. But I've already spent over 500k in amnesia philters since the Fall Fest and I'm tired of setting "remember to philter names" while knowing it costs me 30-45k on a name philter every time I do it. >__< )
