Sorry for all the questions lately, but I need a second opinion on this one.
I have always fought with wind pets, and this seems to work well for me, but are there any particular benefits for either one? I know wind does single target damage and fire does multiple target damage, but are there any other benefits to either one?

While I have not used wind pets a lot, I can tell you tons about fire. I personally run a fire pet on my team.
*Spoilers on Dungeon of the forsaken ahead*
Pros:
Fire pets are excellent for spreading damage. Want to kill the bosses minions while still attacking the boss? No problem. Each attack has a chance to deal damage to its neighbors (Some of their abilities guarantees it) Fire's abilities does damage over turns. This can be helpful while fighting the Nightfall captains because the damage over turns can pierce their invisibility.
Cons:
Fire is much weaker than wind. A rank 2 ability of wind is about 300% stronger than a fire is. Magical based armor is usually harder to find on the broker and can be more expensive. Fire is also a hindrance in the dungeon of the forsaken because the final boss grows stronger with every minion defeated (Its final form does) I personally don't even let it hit until the first part is completed. Also, for some reason, my fire pets always tend to have the lowest migration on my team meaning I have to invest proficiency points into boosting their agility.
Hope that helps. I have some spare Vine thorn equipment laying around if you need it. Please ping if you have any more questions.

Generally it's a case of preference, and also what you're doing can have an affect.
Air is considered better for bosses and lone enemies, while fire will be more useful for taking out mobs (unless you're fighting a replenishing Mob like the Vorkid/Mycanoid swarms in DoF and want to hit only one enemy slot)
Air tends towards hitting harder and will always inflict debuff when it gets a crit.
Decimate (fourth attack) is downright amazing, particularly once ranked up, and the Bleeding debuff buildup you can get going, to even greater effect once the attacks are ranked, is Great.
Fire doesn't hit as hard, and doesn't have that guaranteed debuff-on-crit infliction, but does hit multiple enemies, and each of those hits is individually capable of getting a crit.
Explosive Fireball (second attack) is also great for dealing massive damage across multiple enemies, and Flamethrow's Engulfed buff makes your pet's attacks stronger.

Thank you both so much for the advice! I may purchase another max stat battle pet for these situations, actually. But for the Lost Grove, I heard I should stick with just one party. Have either of you made it far in there? If so, which element would preform best in the majority of the battles?
@Fastnatalie1 That would be great! What do you have for equipment?

We're as far as we can be and we just stick with our main team there (Earth/Light/Air) because we're just.
so USed to them. We really should actually try ranking up some other pets at some point but what can you do.
It may? be easier to bulldoze mobs with a fire pet but with the... battlemages? and their damage reflecting technique, who knows.

Well, I've only ever fought with wind pets, so perhaps I'll try fire out in Astral's Vale and see how I like it. And do you know any good areas for leveling pets to level 60? I've been trying to train my max stat party and it's going REALLY slow.

Lost Grove: Yes, I have made it to the Lost Grove. It is hard for me to say what element would preform better across all battles. But against the fights you normally fight against, the sub-bosses, I'd recommend wind as you are only going against one foe. As for tips I think a lot can be learned from guides: https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=57484. As for personal advice, I'd say good armor makes all the difference.
Training pets to lvl 60. Someone is currently offering free training to level 60.------>https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=64771 If you'd prefer to do it on your own, I would recommend redoing the Dungeon of the Forsaken everyday. If you have spare time, train in the ethernia zones. I wouldn't recommend entering the lost grove until your party is level 60. I've tried: even with the best gear and 2/3rds of my pets at lvl 65, it's hard not to weaken after a few fights.

Thank you so much for sharing that guide! It's very helpful already! I may look into the free leveling as well, and definitely try the dungeon of the forsaken.
And, if you can spare it, how much for the Reaver's Vinethorn Relic and the Lightbringer's Vinethorn Relic? And would warden's equipment work with shadow pets?
