One night, a freak storm hits over the city. Power is blown out and lightning strikes tall buildings. Thing it, this isn't any normal lightining storm. Through complex calculations, lightning strikes can be determined exactly when and where, if you can even think to try. Most are harmless - at least in the supernatural sense. They cause plenty of damage, though. But the rare bolts that find people... They don't kill. They change.

For those hit, something strange happens to them. Something deep, within their DNA, even. They all get some sort of power, some supernatural ability. You are one of the people struck by lightning in the freak storm. Will you use your powers for good or for evil and your own personal gain?

*~O~*

RULES
- All power must have a drawback, like they can temporarily freeze time, but for all time spent in limbo they loose that amount off their life
- No powerplaying or godmodding. Yes, this is supernatural magic, no, you may not be all powerful
- All powers must be reviewed by me before you can join
- Hate the character, not the player
- All images must be credited; At least say, My art/picture or Not my art/picture
- Be nice
- Limit the cussing, but minor colorful language is allowed
- Put 'Chocolate' in the other section
- Remember, this takes in the modern day in a big city
- For heaven's sake be creative with your powers and your drawbacks! Please no basic 'Elemental Magic' or the obvious drawback of energy loss! I am tired of seeing boring powers like that!
- Make your powers somewhat beliveable. For example, a necromancer. Where exactly would there be a ton of bodies and/or skeletons lying around for them to raise in a city?!

Samuel was stood in a street, leaning against a restaurant wall as he waited for his taxi. He had an umbrella in one hand, which was neatly decorated with symbols you'd expect to see on a pack of cards. He noticed some people were avoiding him. He didn't mind. He gave a small, toothy smile and he thought to himself about what he was leaving behind right then.
His right hand tingled, it reminded him of a few days before when he was electrocuted. He didn't think much of it. It just helped him greatly with his experiments. He was rather pleased and now wore a soft white glove on it to make sure it never got dirty, washing it thoroughly.
Samuel took a look around at the people walking up and down the street still waiting for the taxi to arrive and to see what everyone else shall post.
Soon, it arrived. He got in and it drove off. He lay his head on his hand as he saw the first drops of rain and the settling sound of thunder rumble above them. He was not bothered by it. As the car drove and they neared his suburb horse he thought about things, he'd been stuck by lightning when receiving mail a few days before. Blasted mail box had an iron weather-gale on front of it which struck him with lightning. He remembered losing conscious, but now he was deadly curious on what his hand could do where it tingled.

Veronica Westfall was driving home from work when the storm started to gather. She glanced out of the window at the rapidly darkening clouds.
I hope it doesn't rain. she thought, then realized how silly that was. At least not until I get home. she added, checking the sky again. Almost instantly, a light drizzle began falling on her car and collecting on the windows. Veronica turned the windshield wipers on, squinting at the road made hard to see through the growing rain, dark clouds, and the setting sun. She sighed. Not like she had really thought the rain would hold off. She wasn't very worried. It rained a lot here, worse than this, sometimes.
"I've been in worse storms than this," Veronica murmered. She was about to see just how wrong she was.

She heard the thunder before she started to notice the lightning. Nothing odd about that - rainstorms often had lightning and thunder. But something, a sixth sense, perhaps, picked up on something odd. It made Veronica feel uncomfortable , anxious, even. Then she began to notice small things. The lightning being too bright, the rain slightly oily-looking, the thunder ringing for too long.

She was glad when she saw her street at least, and went to turn onto it. As she did, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up, a shiver ran down her spine, and a sense of dread filled her. Veronica accidently jerked the weel, and that action quite possibly saved her life. The lightning struck right where the car had been, the car that flew off the rain-slick road and landed sideways in a ditch. Veronica was thrown against the door and glass pieces from the window her head had struck sliced her face. She hung limply as her brain and body struggled to comprehend what had just happened. Then Veronica jolted as she remembered.
The lightning - I I I crashed!
She forced herself to concentrate, willed her heart to slow. She was a member of the military, not a soldier, true, but trained to be steady, calm, and in control. Wincing, Veronica ripped her seatbelt off and pushed herself out of the wreckage of the car. Miraculously, she had escaped serious injury, only scrached and sore. She walked numbly out into the road in the vain hope that someone could come and help her. She stopped on the blackened patch where the lightning had struck. It was steaming and - were those purple sparks dancing around it?

Veronica lifted her head to to the sky, and let the cool rain soothe her scrapes. Then the sky grew bright, and lightning arced down toward the exact same spot is had hit only moments before. The spot that was now occuppied by Veronica Westfall. She didn't even have time to scream before the violet-tinged bolt knocked her to the ground senseless.

Malice was walking down the street, watching everyone scurry into cabs, apartments, restaurants, anything to get away from the poring rain outside. Everyone was rushing about, the street minutes before that buzzed with life now only dim street lights, heavy rain, and a single girl. She looked up to the sky as rain bulleted down on her and the sky gave a low growl.
Malice walked lazily down the street until she came upon a run down house, parts of its wooded walls pealing off, weeds covering every side, broken windows. 'I just hope nothing's wet' she thought as she walked inside. She sat in the corner of a bare room, with only a ragged blanket and stared out the window as the dark sky lit up with streets of lightly. 'I guess that's why everyone was run-' she jolted as a lightning bolt struck across the street from her, interrupting her thought. "Oh shoot... that was close..." she mumbled to herself "it doesn't matter though, it could come closer for all I care-" as if she dared the sky a bolt came thundering down and stuck her. She fell over in her corner screaming from pain has black spots dimmed her vision until she finally fell silence once she lost conscious from pain.

Lightning hit the highest point on the area, as long as you are not that highest point and that you are not bellow it, you are safe. That's what he was thinking when he head out of the small fast food joint where he was working. The storm was strong, he could feel the electricity dansing in the sky but the 12 hour of reservation for his new game was coming to it's end and he coudn't count on anybody to offer him a car ride to his destination so he had accepted his fate of walking, the storm had caugh him off guard and he had forgot to bring an umbrella.

About 5 minutes of walk he was soaked to the bones in the cold rain he was probably looking like a kicked puppy to anyone who would had notice him. Walking with only the rain and the occasional thunder to break the silence was making, less then happy, memoy comback in his mind. It was a well known fact that rain was making people think more negatively after all. He had let his life behind to pursue his dream in a new place, a new world was oppening for him but at the cost of the love of evrybody he ever cared about back in his small town. To reach his goal, he had rip to shread the 'perfect little boy' image and left, now no one know or cared if he he even exist, and he didn't cared anymore, the best story are the one who start from nothing after all.

He never reach his destination that day, he was so lost in thought that he didn't notice the storm starting acting strange. He was strike by a lightning and colaps on the ground in the back alley he alwais use as a shortcut. When he wake up a few days later, he was still in the same back alley.

Arie Aiga was walking back home from work when the storm was already thundering and raining. He peek from his black umbrella at the dark clouds that looked like they were angry.
"Not much progress on my work today, hmm. I need to review on my analysis again." Gaia thought. For the past months or so this was he always did at his home. Review notes, experiment, record and repeat. He let out frustrated sigh as the sky echoed with crackling thunder. Flashing bright white for just a second, before the sound came towards him. He had to cover his ears from the strain. He turned to were the lightning stuck, it was only a few meters ahead of him. He ignored the thunder as it was normal for it to happen during this type of storm. He seen storms much worse than this one. Its same common here.

Something interesting came up on his way back home. Something weird, has happened to the side of the sidewalk. It was burnt, probably from the thunder but it had white sparks all around it. Then he his hairs stand on end, and on instinct he side-jumped from where he was standing. Lightning stuck right were he was just standing, white sparks littered around it. Gaia had to calm down, he could hear the beating of his heart right next to his eardrums. He willed himself to take several long deep breaths before his heart rate slowed down. Be calm, you work as a weapon specialist for the military, you received basic train from your parents. Just calm down and adjust to the situation. He felt his grip tighten on his umbrella as he cautiously walks up to the second spot where the lightning struck. It was exactly like the other spot next to the spot he found when walking.

Gaia tilted his head up to the sky, peering at the storm cloud from his umbrella. He felt the droplets of water skim down his face as the cloud seems to get violent. Before he could react, a bolt of lightning traveling at the speed of light struck him right there and then. He was knocked down to the ground as the rain poured on his unconscious body.

Blue practically danced in the rain as she made her way home to her little apartment. She could care less about the lightning and thunder. She just barely missed several lightning strikes as she jumped out of thier way. She barely noticed as she continued her dancing. She had the silliest smile spread across her face. Today had been a great day for her. Her students were always so well behaved and she had decided to throw a little party for them celebrating how great a class they had been. They had cakes, balloons, and games. She loved teaching kindergarten. For a moment, she paused. The wrong moment. She hadnt the time to jump out of the way. It struck her, and she fell.

The camera clicked as the lighting flashed overhead, the thunder booming shortly after. The person behind the camera, a tall man with the clearest blue eyes bent to shield the glowing screen from the pouring rain. "Better..." he huffed looking at the striking photo unapprovingly. If he was going to show he was a skilled photographer that one simply wouldn't do. "Maybe if I got a bit higher..." he said covering his eyes as he looked up. "That would work..." Next to him stood a rather tall, about six to seven stories, building in which most of the lights were off in. If he could get to the top, then he would br closer to the sky. In theory that would make for a better photo right? Letting the camera rest on his stomach he looked for a way to get up to the roof. Maybe down the alley, there had to be a fire escape right? Timing his steps with the lightning he made his way into the depths of the alleyway, using the faint light of the flashed to steer himself. Nearly towards the end of the alley was a fire escape, ladder just barely out of reach. "Crap..." he cursed as he landed the third time he jumped to try to reach it. Slightly irritated he looked around for anything to use to climb on in order to reach the ladder up. The only other thing in the alley was a large green dumpster. "Guess that will work...let's just hope it is light enough to move."

The wheels screeched as the man put his shoulder to the dumpster. Gritting his teeth he slowly pushed it forward until the large metal container refused to move any more. Panting Myles doubled over, trying to catch his breath. "I hope this was worth it." He grumbled before clambering up the side of the container. It wasn't quite as close as he would have liked though if he jumped he might be able to make it. "You got this...just run forward and jump. Easy." Well easier said then done. That was unless the lid of the garbage bin wasn't slick with rain. Taking a breath he stepped forward, instantly feeling himself lose balance. The first thing to hit was his hip, grazing the wet lid as he slid to the ground. Next was his shoulder, colliding with the metal of the edge. Lastly was his butt when he hit the ground. Wincing he sat there a moment, beating the side of the dumpster as he fought against the pain. That was going to leave a mark. Slowly though the pain died down, save for the throbbing in his ankle which had already begun to swell slightly. In the fall he must have managed to land on it. "Great..." he muttered, gritting his teeth as he stood again. That could wait, he had to get on top of the building. Again he clambered up the side of the dumpster, this time making sure he had his footing. A few steps and a leap later he was slowly climbing up to the top of the building. Each rung was another step of agony, his wounds protesting with each move he made. Maybe he could just call in sick tomorrow.

He was panting by the time he reached the top, his ankle hurting too much to even put pressure on it. There was no doubt in his mind that it was broken. If he could get the shot as well as he could get hurt it would be a miracle. Putting the camera up again he pointed it towards the sky, trying to focus in on the brightest points of light. It was strange, faint crackles of purple light could be seen dancing about the base of the clouds, sometime collecting where the next beam of lightning was going to strike. It all seemed to work in his favor. The crackle of purple that he followed with the instrument led right up to a cluster of them, close enough that he was able to snap a few shots. Now if there would just be a lightning strike. As if on cue the hairs on his arms and the back of his head stood up, and he got the sudden urge to run, to flee from the spot he was standing. But he needed this shot! His entire career depended on it, to leave now meant giving up on his dream. There was a bright flash, a faint click of the camera, the sharp cry of a man before the thunder rolled on. When he woke again, just a few minutes after he had been struck, the only thing he cared about was the photo. Surprisingly enough the camera still seemed in working order, though the lens was a bit cracked. The photo though was stupendous, marvelous! Then the reality of the situation set in. He had been struck, his hair was still standing on end. The material around him was even burned a bit. He was lucky to be alive let alone to have a photo to use, on a camera that still worked. It was about that time that the first of the people from the apartment started to make their way up to him. He couldn't hear their words though, not with the ringing in his damaged ears. Their words were muffled, their touch distant as if it wasn't meant for him. One thing stood out though, among the crowd just out of sight stood beings cloaked in shadow. Some were small, others large and menacing. A single voice rang out then as the paramedics arrived, it was so loud and clear that it made him turn his head even. To his right side sat a nasty black mass, with rows of horrible pointy teeth. Four red, pointy, pupiless eyes stared at him as the being smiled an evil smile. "Finally." It said before lunging towards him, disappearing into the man's chest. Despite his best efforts he was unable to move his arms to ward off the attack, even as the pain filled his body. After that everything went black.
