Ummmm... so, sometimes a yellow bar will appear below the different tabs (home, account, explore, etc) and, like just now, it said ! Bandit raid at Esior's Haven! (17/225) ! What's that all about? I know, it's a newbie question, but I have no clue.

That's a small combat event that occurs every once in a while. Doesn't matter if you take part or not, but can be somewhat helpful for XP or some small amounts of gold if you fight enough.

There are raids that occur every 3 hours. Its a site event and will only end once the number of enemies defeated has been reached.
The battles scale to your pets, so its a good training ground. And also, on rare occasions, you can meet 4 stars pets, so some players like to fight the raids to find these pets.

Just head to the respective city (Sanctuary of Saerielle or Esior's Haven, depending on the message), and you'll be taken to a battle screen.
