What is a carried trait?

I will refer you to post 4 of our guide here for more detail, but basically, a carried trait is a trait that a pet has the 'gene' for, but the trait can't be seen because it's covered by a more dominant trait, whether that's N (no vis) or just a higher dominance letter (eg. A is more dominant than B is more dominant than C) (in this case, it's referred to as a Hidden trait)

Ok but what does it do to the pet.

it's a trait that is not visible on the pet but may appear on the offspring if both parents have it.

It doesn't affect the pet, but can be inherited by its offspring, so if you have

whose genetics are:
Gene One: (EG) Red Tailed Cockatoo
Gene Two: (NA) Shimmer Tips
Gene Three: (NN) None
Mutation One: (NN) None
Mutation Two: (EE) Gallant Armor

Gene One: (BG) Owl Feathers
Gene Two: (AG) Shimmer Tips
Gene Three: (NN) None
Mutation One: (NN) None
Mutation Two: (NE) Gallant Armor
Mutation Three: (NN) None

(G1 traits: B = Owl Feathers, E = Red Tailed Cockatoo, G = Mystic Feathers
G2 traits: A = Shimmer Tips, G = Fire Tiger
M2 traits: E = Gallant Armor)

Offspring could have:
Gene One: BE, BG, EG, or GG
Gene Two: NA, NG, AA, or AG
Gene Three: (NN) None
Mutation One: (NN) None
Mutation Two: NE, or EE
Mutation Three: (NN) None

So they could look like
