The morning was rather quiet with only the breeze in the leaves of the trees to really break the silence. Where was she? Was she really late or had his sense of time gotten that far off? Sighing the fox like man settled back against the tree's trunk yawning some as he did. He himself had been up all night, thinking of the plan at hand. Autumn was a dear friend of his, one of the few that he had in this dangerous world, thus he had decided that she was the only one worthy of going with him on this trip. That was if she would ever show up. Maybe she had backed out, on the account that this was a suicide mission. Did he really think that he and just one other could really kill a fire drake from the north? No, though really what other choice did they have at the moment? Again sighing he wrapped his tail about himself and lightly combed his clawed fingers through the tangled red fur as he did. Maybe he backing out would be for the better...after all there were other ways for one to prove themselves the same as humans right?

The warm morning sun shone down through the cracks in the leaves as the cat like woman sat up. She had been sunning herself when she realized she'd fallen asleep. She was late for a meeting she'd arranged with her foxy friend. She stood up and quickly smoothed out her black fur. She pulled on the woven, red poncho she had made herself to fight out the chill, if there was any. She bounded through the trees, her slightly bushy tail streaming out behind her. She darted around some trees and saw her dear friend. She grinned as she ran towards him. "Brook!" She called.

At the calling of his name the fox sat up peering about the tree with his ears pointed forward. With a light leap and a toothy grin he stood stretching his arms out to hug her. "Autumn! I was starting to think that you had left me to the quest on my own!" He said tail wagging rather happily behind him.

Autumn came to a stop in front of her much smaller companion. She shook her head at his comment, clearly appalled by the idea of leaving him to his own devices. "Let you face a drake on your own? Ha! I would never forgive myself if you died," she replied. She looked at the position of the sun. "Should we get going? It's already heading towards noon."

With her refusal to the friendly hug he simply put his arms down again, placing his right hand on the sword that hung at his side. To call the weapon a sword was much more a compliment than it deserved seeing that it would very roughly serve as a dagger to a human though for the small fox like man it was just hardly the right size. "We should, I would much rather us travel during the night though. No matter though, if we must travel during the day then so be it." With that the fox turned his fluffy orange red tail flicking after him as he puffed his chest out some. As a thief he liked to hide under the cover of darkness, that way if he caught any unwanted attention he could rely on the shadows to hide him away. But he would travel by day if she so choosed.

The black furred cat looked her friend over. "Do not worry. We can travel under the cover of the forest, if you so wish. I know it's what I would prefer," she said. He smiled warmly at the short Fox. "Besides, I wouldn't want to waste such a nice day." She gestured around her at the sunlight pooling on the forest floor.

Autumn nodded in response. "It depends on what kind of danger we run into along the way," she replied. She made sure her fur was smooth one more and made sure she had her staff strapped across her back. It was, but only under the poncho she wore.

"That also is true, I myself tend to stir up a lot of trouble." He gave her a kind smile as he looked up one last time. He had always found this sort of foundness for the cat like woman. She was kind to him, something he hadn't really gotten from anyone else. "But against all the urges I will keep my hands out of the pockets of others, and will vow not to steal unless told to."

Autumn gave the Fox a knowing look. "Don't make promises that you can't keep," she said. "Remember the last time we went on an excursion? As I recall, you said the exact same thing you did just now. And we came home and I find out you stole a bag of coins from a merchant." She shook her head with an amused sigh. She found Brook a very entertaining friend. She could never get bored with him around.
