So how do you make money in this game? Exploring doesn't seem to yield much, and I don't really have any sylesti's to sell. Nets cost a lot and healing my pets seems to cost a lot. Are there more ways to make gold?

If you're patient, your pets can heal after a short span (30 minutes to an hour?), saving you tons of gold in the long run. Also, do missions - those are a major source of gold as well.
