What does a genetic test do?

A genetic test will show any carried or visible traits that the pet has.
On an untested pet you will only be able to see what traits an adult pet has that is visible, but a genetic test will show if it has any carried traits, or if used on a hatching, it will also show if it has visible mutations you won't know about until it's an adult.

Genetic testing also allows you to see if a pet has Hidden traits (not on their pet page, but in their image code and if you look them up in the Advanced Search)
(^ a nyte with a Carried trait (green), a Visible trait with a Hidden under it (in this case, Shimmer tips with Hidden Fire tiger) (purple), and a Visible with no hidden (blue)
If he were untested, you'd only see "(AA) Shimmer Tips" and "(EE) Gallant Armor", and both would be written in blue)
