I don't know if its just me, or if others are having this problem too... But every time that I try to use the instant messaging system (the single one-on-one chatting system) my webpage freezes completely and even crashes, sometimes. The general chat/chatroom part works fine, its just the one-on-one chat that messes up. :\

My PMing system on the chat freezes my screen as well

This is just an issue with Comet Chat. Unfortunately, I cannot edit the code so it will remain a problem until I replace Comet Chat with my own chat system.
In the meantime, you could try disabling browser addons or trying a different browser.

I found Comet Chat insanely unstable in IE, but it's less of a mess in Chrome. Not problem free, but a fair bit less disastrous.
