It was a bright and sunny day. All seemed right with the world (but that will probably change quickly :P). The birds were singing, the dragons were soaring, life was as it should be.
(Not sure what should happen that will gather them together, but here you go!)

A slim elf girl ran through the forest, laughing as she raced a herd of deer. The day was perfect, she thought- until she ran straight into her betrothed...

Starters are always short!

Shad walked slowly, Blue at his side. Blue grabbed his staff and ran off. Hey! Blue! Get back here with that! he yelled and began chasing after his dragon.

Laurel dove down to the grassy clearing below, sitting on Tempest's feathered back. The grass below was soft and sweet smelling, and she gently slid off onto it. Her bare feet touched the ground and she laughed. Tempest tilted his head, looking at her curiously.

Beside her, her friend Kyril landed on the ground. He and his poison dragon Lilah, both didn't look thrilled. Kyril walked over to Laurel.

"What's with the long face?" She asked, her dark hair whipping out behind her in the warm breeze. Tempest looked at Lilah. Yes- what is wrong?

Lilah shook her long, green head. I am not sure. Ask Kyril.

"My parents still believe I should be married to that princess from another kingdom. I hate it- I don't even know her! She may be rude and hate me for all I know." He ran a hand through his light brown hair and she frowned.

Laurel crossed her arms. "I doubt that."

"You try being betrothed to some random princess!" He shot back. Lilah lowered her head slightly, obviously annoyed by having to hear this so many times from her companion. He's been going on like this since his the King and Queen- I'm sorry, his parents, told him yesterday.

Changing her name to River

River took a few steps back as she crashed into Kyril.

"I heard what you said." she snapped. "I'm not at all thrilled to be stuck with you-" she poked him in the chest "-for the rest of my life." She glared at him until he looked away, shen she turned and began to pace.

She sighed then truned back to Kyril. "I'm sorry. My temper is... rather draconic." she laughed humorlessly. "I may seem rude at first, and you have every right to hate me now, but please don't. I daresay it would be a bad way to start."

River twisted a slender hand over her chest in a gesture of friendship. "Will you forgive me Kyril?" she asked. And will you forgive me for my impertinenence with your Rider, O mighty dragon?

He turned to the elf beside him- what? That was her. His face burned as he realized the elf near them was the princess. "No," he began, regaining his composure. The prince wasn't too good with these things. "It's alright- Princess River." He sunk down on one knee, bowing respectfully.

Laurel glanced between them awkwardly, and Tempest nudged Lilah. The green poison dragon stepped forward to nod to her. It is alright. He speaks... rudely... at times. I am Lilah, Prince Kyril's advisor, protector, and companion.

"Arggg!" River screalmed at the sky in supreme annoyance. She had a small knife in her hand and began waving in in Kyril's face. "No, no, no! Don't bow or kneel or whatever or callme princess!" she stopped, then resumed with less gusto. "We ARE supposed to be friends so PLEASE DON'T treat me like a princess!" She tried to stay calm, but then she caught Kyril's astonishsed gaze and it was all over. They all burst out laughing, and even the dragons made a rough guffawing noise.

Kyril tried to hold his laugh back, glaring at Laurel- who was laughing- over his shoulder. Lilah and Tempest looked equally confused. Kyril stood from his kneeling position. "Believe me- I don't want to bow, but it's part of my princely duties and whatnot."

Get back here Blue! Shad yelled again. Blue stopped and Shad came tumbling into her. Blue! He shrieked. He looked around the dragon and saw she had stopped in front of a small group. He recognized one of them to be a prince and another to be a princess, the third, however, he did not recognize. Oh no... he mumbled.

"Who are you?" River asked the newcomer, rasing her seyebrows.
