I had an odd error while exploring the lost grove. Ran into an enemy while exploring the map. It had a broken image, but I started the battle. Once I accepted the battle, there was no enemy for me to attack. Page refresh made no difference. Time was 2/28/2018, 9:34 AM server time.

Yea - this has been rarely happening to players.
If I had to guess, there must be a one off error in the algorithm that determine which species you battle when it's a Sylesti.
It fortunately doesn't do any harm and you can just skip with your pets and the battle will end in victory.
