You arrive in the gardens where Xaphira sits at a long table, smiling as she awaits her arrival. Her apprentice and daughter sit next to her at the long table, all of them with a cup of tea in front of them. You've been coming to these gatherings for years, but something feels different this time, Xaphira's apprentice and daughter seem to be a little on edge this time

Roux tucked her mousy brown hair behind her ear as she took a seat on the side where she usually sat with the other apprentices. She wondered where Lyric, her mentor, was as she nodded her greeting to the other. "Miss Xaphira, Miss Charlene. Kody." Tye, lounging at her feet, let out a low growl.

"Roux, it's wonderful to see you, have a seat while we wait for the others, lucky you getting first pick of the seats today" Xaphira smiled. "Where's Lyric? will she be here soon? it's dangerous for apprentices to be without their mentors nowadays" Xaphira commented
Kody motioned for Roux to sit next to him, feeling more comfortable the other apprentice sitting closer to him.

She wanted to ask Xaphira what was causing her to be on edge but refrained against it. "Yes, yes- she's on her way, I'm sure. She would never miss it." She smiled at Kody and took the seat beside him, looking around to see if his familiar was anywhere near. Tye sniffed the other apprentice and then sat between them on the floor.

Xaphira nodded, and went back to chatting with her daughter.
"So... how many years until you're a full fledged witch again? I only have 14 years left until I don't need my mentor anymore" Kody said, trying to make conversation

"Still another twenty-seven for me." She laughed. "Though Lyrics near constant company isn't a problem- she's kind and sweet and a great mentor."

"Whisper, it's wonderful to see you again, have a seat while we wait for the others, we can catch up in the meantime" Xaphira smiled

"That's cool, Xaphira is... well, she's like 100,000 years old, and her daughter is barely 100, I don't even know where her daughter came from, they've never mentioned a father? But they're definitely related" Kody said in a hushed voice. "Anyways, I've actually learned some new enchantments... some of them went terribly wrong, but I still managed some preeeety advanced spells" Kody said in a somewhat boastful tone

Aspen entered the gardens, his apprentice Lily clung to his side, her eyes darting over the other witches gathered here. "Sit Lily." He instructed, she didn't do as she was told and remained standing, clinging a book tightly to her chest. Breathing in deeply, she brushed a strand of her silver hair behind her ear and looked once more at the other witches, determining which one she could talk to and sit near.
