This RP takes place in a land of desolation. Food is scarce, water is scarcer. People work like animals just to survive, living in crowded, dirty alleyways and any shelter they can find. Whatever you can protect and defend is yours.
Work can be found anywhere, if you aren't picky--though it isn't always safe. Large labor facilities are the center of every village, and people flock to them.
You've heard of other lands, far, far away, where life is better--but are the stories true? Who knows.

~HOW THE FACILITY IS RUN (advised read)~


A laborer arrives at the camp. Let's call him Joe. Joe comes to the front gate. The Keeper of the Welcome Center lets him in and gives him 1 day's rations. Joe then finds a spot to sleep. This may be a part of the alley grid (small square spaces where people can live in the alley). Grid squares are free to use, but can be stolen and must be guarded. If he is lucky, he may get a spot in a Housing Facility. The Housing Facility Keeper charges 1 day's rations per day spent in Housing Facility. (People can save up rations to spend on Housing).
Joe goes to work at the Labor Facility. For each task he does, he can get 1-3 points. If he does a good job, he gets three points. If he does a fair job, he gets two points. If he does a bad job, he gets one point. Points can be traded in at the Point-Ration Exchange at the end of the day for rations. Three points equals one ration. There are Food Rations and Water Rations. Occasionally, supplies, items, luxuries and special foods can be found at the Shops nearby. Rations can be traded for items.
Joe must be careful to guard his items, because there are many thieves and no authorities to tell. He uses a backpack (acquired at the Welcome Center) to carry important items. He keeps this with him all day.
Joe may make friends in the Facility. He may form a group that helps and supports each other.
No one leaves the Facility without permission from the Facility Manager. Of course, people can try to escape, but the gate is guarded, and a wall surrounds the compound.

Strengths: Good with her hands, can fix almost anything, good at solving puzzles and problems. Keeps a cool head under pressure.
Weaknesses: Stubborn and opinionated, finds immaturity or incompetence to be a strain, arachnophobia

Background: Was born to a single mother who was a laborer in another camp, even worse than this one. When she was six, her mother tried to run away with her, but they were caught. She doesn't know what happened to her mother, as they were split up and she was sent to another camp, where she grew up and was "adopted" by a small group of people there, who always helped each other. Her most recent heartbreak was being transferred to this camp, and having to leave them behind.
Personality: Extroverted, outgoing, typically good-humored, optimistic but realistic.

Role: Laborer, wants to be an explorer. Her main job is to get things in tiny spaces that the workers cannot reach
Strengths: She fits into small spaces well, and is pretty agile as well as a good climber
Weaknesses: Fragile, both emotionally and a tiny bit physically. She cannot fight, as she is only a child
*Likes: She likes trying to explore the camp, but she often gets scolded
*Dislikes: She doesnt like the grumpbutts as she calls the facility. She wont say that around them as she thinks words like butt are bad, however doesnt know that real curse words are bad
Background: She was born in the camp, and hasnt known life outside of it. Her mother died during childbirth from the poor conditions, and her father was crushed in a machine. These happened early on, so she does not know and was raised by other laborers
Personality: Optimistic and childish, but will cry easily.

Background: he was born into a rather broken home where he was forced to live in a bunker with his mentally ill Grandfather since his mother wanted nothing to do with either of them. For the first month or two he fought to survive, fearing the man he was trapped with then he grew fond of the man and eventually helped him up until the raid which left both his grandfather and mother dead. From there Greg was forced into a sort of Slav labor but due to his lack of skills was sold from place to place. One day though his owner told him that if he could outrun the hounds he was a free man, so he took off running as the hounds were released. He won. From there he traveled looking for work when he found this place. It seems well enough.

After some time, her father finally stayed with her and her mother until her mother died and she left. She eventually met another girl her age, they began dating for a while until the girl was killed

Strengths: Very powerful and holds high standing with...whoever is in charge.
Weaknesses: Likes to eat--maybe too much.

*Dislikes: Getting shown up or being bossed around, whether by superiors or those under his charge.
Background: Nobody knows anything about his childhood, though rumor has it he organized the murder of his older brother. Of course, that could just be a story. He was taking advantage of the apocalypse as soon as he could crawl, whether it be selling overpriced ration packs or making deals with criminals. Somehow, he got himself a labor facility and, as usual, a town sprung up around it.
Personality: Haughty, stubborn, "i'm in charge" attitude, not one to be messed with.

Alright:

First, I made an executive decision, and all Labor Facility owners will be controlled by me for ease of RP (unless someone asks and is able to manage a slot.)

Second: there WAS an apocalypse-like disaster. However, the land had always been a safe ground for smugglers, criminals, all those shady types. And the apocalypse happened about 80 or so years ago.
