First came the harsh wind. It blew down our houses. Collapsing on top of and killing families. Then came the fires, whatever was left was burned. Starvation followed after. When we thought it couldn't get much worse, floods came and drowned our young ones. We retreated to the cold mountains with what little remained. Here we settled down in the large caves we now call home. You hear the storyteller say.
This story, this terrible memory is the reminder of what drove your tribe up the mountains. It was years ago, but still fresh in the minds of those old enough to remember.
Dinner was always like this. Memories of the disaster shared around the fire by everyone. You've heard each story several times over.
When you have finally finished your meal you start heading back to your little room in the great cave system your tribe calls the village. Before you reach it, you feel a hand grab your shoulder. You turn to see the village leader. He looks worried.
He tells you to come with him. He walks quickly, he seems very troubled.
You finally reach your destination, the village council room. It is beautiful, unlike anything in the village.
You see 7 other teens, all about as confused as you. You are each handed a sword with a gemstone on the handle.
