I'm having quite a lot of trouble defeating King Desius with 2 lvl 52 pets and one lvl 50 pet. I have read that in order to activate the seals you need pets with 200+ in certain skills. I have decent equipment and have used all my proficiency points yet majority of my sylesti have skills around 170.

What is the best way to strengthen Sylesti? Is it possible to increase the skill lvl of pets without equipment or levelling?

Leveling, equipment and using the skill points are the only way to increase a pet's stats.

But for the equipment:
Make sure all of your pets have armor, accessories, etc. attached. And that the skills of the armor match up with the skills you are trying to increase. The armor most preferably should be at least epic. Of course legendary is better.

You can find some armor on the trade broker if you need it.

To get the specific stats for each orb, you'll probably have to redistribute your skill points as well. Though this is just a guess as it's been a while since I've done the storyline. I assume there's more on this in the zone discussion forum.
