Tyto glanced up at the stone archway above her. The soft gust of winds made the feathers of her wings rustle. She sighed a deep, hollow sigh that echoed in her bone-mask. She spread her wings and took off, sailing aimlessly in lazy circles in the skies.

William walked out the castle doors, he had been given a mission from the king and was gathering some guards to come with him. He saw Tyto flying in the air, he squinted his eyes

Tyto extended her wings and pushed the air pockets under her to create a smooth, silent spiral downwards. Her descent could be seen but not heard due to having special feathers over her main flight feathers that silenced her wing beats. She landed lightly before William and dipped her head in greeting.

Astra guarded her sister Marzena's door, tapping her padded foot angrily against the floor. Why should she be guarding this spoilt brat, it made no sense.
