I get an error message when I try to rename this pet:

You have to use the philter on the pet first before you can rename it. On the pet's page is a green button labeled "Genetic Philter". Click on that and choose "Philter of Amnesia" from the drop-down menu, then click "Use Philter" and confirm you want to use it. You should be able to rename your pet after that.

Let me try that...I have used it once but did not remember what steps I took to use it.
