How does genetic mutator work? Just any genetic mutator. I know the difference between Lesser and Greater.
What I can't comprehend is how does carried or visible work.
Is it being randomized? So there's 50 percent chance of being visible or carried?
Or we just add 1 genotype? So from none to carried or carried to visible?

@Kier,
Lesser Genetic Mutators have a random chance to add a random Gene or Mutation that is either Carried or Visible.
Greater Genetic Mutators let you choose the slot (where the slot is empty) and choose the Gene/Mutation. The result will also always be Visible.

@Krinadon,
Example:
I use Lesser Genetic Mutator on uncommon sylesti showing something in slot 2. There's chance having visible or carried on any slot beside slot 2.
Like this? Just to make sure.

Sorry to necro this thread, but I'm new here and it's the only post I could find which asks a similar question to the issue I'm having. I used the Lesser Genetic Mutator on a captured pet, but no change happened. Is it really only a -chance- to have a mutation happen, despite the text on the item making it sound like it is a guarranteed added modification (though it would be a random one)?
If this is the case, the tooltip text should reflect on it only being a chance, since spending 1500 scales on something that does absolutely nothing, and can never be applied to that pet again, is a bit discouraging. Does the Lesser Pet Dye from the scale shop also only have a chance to apply any change?
The pet in question had one mutation already, and the mutator did get used since the pet now has a note about being genetically mutated. So unless this process takes time, I'm wondering if these Lesser Genetic Mutators are more of a gamble than they sound like (aka capable of producing zero effect)?
Thanks in advance, and my apologies if I've made any newbie misunderstandings!

Thank you for the quick response!
I checked the Genetics sheet for any changes, and there were none, nor any visible changes to the pet's looks. If it gained a carried trait, can that be "secret" as in not showing on the gene/mutation stats on the genetics chart? If so, how can I do the test you were talking about?
Thanks again!

Hi there!
Carried genes or mutations will not show up unless genetic testing. You can buy a permanent genetic tester from the Diamond Shop. You can also get consumable ones occasionally during events, or buy them from people on the tradebroker...or I am sure that a friendly user will test your pets for free.
However, I sent you a few tradeable kits that I had in my inventory. :)

Thanks a lot Faiona!
It did indeed turn out that the pet gained a carried trait. Thanks for educating the newbie, guys!
