Ok, so here is how it works. Below are the terms I will use
Hubbing- Buying to sell to another player

So, when you get a pet you don't want, I take that, and put it on a list

Then, say, another player comes and says : I want your pet!

then we wait until someone else comes, offers for their pet, and you offer for that pet. then I buy all 3 pets for 1g and send it to the owners for 1g. (Hubbing)
so it requires 2-3 people to do this.

You can reclaim your pet until it is hubbed. that is the point of no return
