How can I add a second pet to my party? I see this in reference to the battle discussion - when you are facing more than one "enemy".

yes, you can have up to 3 pet in your party so far you have to go in the sylesti plaza and go to the trainer then select expend party max.

Do you have to be at a certain level to make this option available?

Increase party limit does not do anything and I am at level 14.

I dont remember it very well for the first but if you already have 2 pet you have to wait until umbra forest before getting your third team member. You have to go in party to add a member in your team once you unlock the slot.

did you do the nightfall bandit camp ? i think it will work with an event around it.

I am trying to - but not doing well - from the "battle discussion" it is suggested to increase your party size.

Each time I try with one, I end up getting "beat up".

i suggest you to use a fabled pet (they have better stat) and to use better gear (purple or yellow), i personaly make it until the enigmatic grotto befor expending my party so it's totaly possible to do so.

So I would need to generate one rather than rely on my Starter Pet?

not nessecerly, your starter is good but somtime you may nead a little bit more power. It's relatively easy to find one in advenced shearch if you dont already have one, i know it's kinda hard to train a pet when you dont have other party member so you nead one with already some levels on it. In the worst case you may nead to buy an xp orb or ask someone to train it a little.
