I have all this AP and don't know what it's used for, and I'd really like to know.

AP is mainly used for your Wardrobe.
When you go into your wardrobe, you can unlock new Styles/Clothing/Base things, such as hair and facial features, using AP. The only wardrobe column that AP cannot be used to buy things is in the Items.
