It's because they're both based on the nine-tailed fox spirit called a kitsune.

i know but i'm talking about the name of the nine tailed and this other pokemon's name the fox is kurama but the pokemon starts with kur to i forgot the rest he he i kinda don't do well on memory or things in plain site or something

Kurama is the name of a fox demon in another anime, too. And actually, there is a "Mount Kurama" in Japan that is supposedly home of the "King of the Tengu." Tengu are generally considered bird-like demons. So yeah ^-^;
