At 12:41, I attempted to catch a rare Volnixi in the Fungus Grove. The trap succeeded and was removed from my inventory, and the battle ended with a capture success message. However, the pet did not go to my stable, party or hatchery.

The pet in question was green and purple and displayed a butterfly-wing mutation.

We don't keep database records on trap usage as that would take up way too much space.

So there is no way to find the pet you attempted to catch.


Looking again at the code, I can't find how it's possible to receive the "Your trap succeeded!!!" message without the pet being created. The code only runs the part that adds that message once it's verified that the pet was added to the database. So if it wasn't added, it shouldn't be possible for that message to display. I checked the database and the pet was never created. So it isn't an issue of it just not appearing in your Stables.

Are you sure the pet didn't run away?

In the future, when you capture a pet, check your Stables first before clearing the Explore Log message. If the pet isn't in your Stables and the message is displaying a success, please screenshot it and send it to me.

Ah, yep. Traps have a decent chance to fail and on a failed trap, there is a small chance the pet will run away.

The better the trap, the better the chance of this not happening.
