My friend is new and she wants to know about catching sylestis and I'm not much of an expert...
what makes sylestis easier to catch other than better snares?
does lowering their health make it easier?

As you've said, using a better snare than the minimum kind required increases the chance of a successful catch.
Lowering the pet's health also increases the chance, but you run the risk of accidentally killing the pet.
These are the main ways, but there's no guarantee unless you use the master trap (from the diamond shop, or on the trade broker if players are selling them). Otherwise, you just have to hope the random generator likes you.
