So I just gave away the fairy queen's whereabouts to Cereth, but he and his band attacked me and they're too strong for me to defeat. I can't buy experience orbs because they cost too much but I don't know how to make coins without exploring and whenever I explore Cereth and his band attack me. Please help :(

Doing missions, selling unwanted items, and much more are good ways to get gold. You could also try your luck at Jinxie's Jamboree but almost nobody wins that :3
I see a lot of people are having a bit of trouble with that evil Cereth! I did, too, 'cause he... He ruined my starter pet's PERFECT battle record! But I came up with a strategy that helped me FINALLY defeat him.
#1:
Go to Esior's Haven and get a slot to unlock another pet for your party. (You get it from William the Hunter). I was just exploring with only my starter pet, then Cereth comes up... Buy the extra 'party pet' ahead of time!

I think this one helped me the most. First, go to a place OTHER than the battle area. Don't use 'Finishing Blow', but choose the attack that'll give you the most Mana, and keep using that on the enemies. For my pets, the 'Focused Attack' gives them the most Mana. When your pets reach 100% Mana (or at least 75%), go back to the place of the battle. At the beginning, use your 'Finishing Blow' attack on the boss, and if you have 2 pets, this will be doubled. It'll deplete A LOT of the boss's health, as if you've been working on fighting 'em for a few minutes! And also: Defeat the boss BEFORE you defeat their 'minions', as the minions are much weaker and will be easier for your pet to fight once the boss is out of the way.

Once you have defeated the boss and their minions, do not keep exploring. Go heal up your pets with mushrooms or Esior's healer, then come back. This is only because you might have to fight ANOTHER battle after the boss. (Trust me, that happened when I was fighting Lord Talon's (or that other evil person) guard Vulnyxes. My starter was at 40% health and resulted in defeat.)
Hope those three tips helped! They sure helped me!
I also made this thread. Hope it helps you, battle-wise. :D

Besides what BerryCupcakes said, based on your party pet, I also think you should reset your level up/proficiency points. Would recommend you to read this guide: https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=11101
The main thing to remember is that you have to choose between strength and intelligence. If you add points to one, don't add points to the other. Your pets can only use one type of damage, whichever's higher, so any points added to the other would be wasted. So when you choose a proficiency tree, choose one that matches your stat profile.
Likewise, when you use equipment, choose those that matches your stat profile. Adding more to strength/intelligence, whichever you chose, instead of splitting points evenly between both or all points. For relics, choose those that give more physical damage bonus if you chose strength, and those that give magical damage bonus if you chose intelligence. Don't use those that split damage bonus equally.
If you make these changes, your pets should be more efficient in battles.
