so i have a pet,that's 18days,i bought it and It's not a adult even tho it's 18 days old,why is this?

18 days is the length of time it takes for an adolescent to become an adult. The pet you bought was most likely a bred pet, which takes 3 days to hatch plus an additional 6 to go from hatchling to adolescent. Most pets that are bred become adults at 26-27 days of age.

Is there a way you can tell if its an adult when you are battling it without using a genetic scanner?

Just poked around in the nightfall bandit dungeon to try it out and it looks like it will just default to a maturity of 648 on all unscanned pets, so it doesn't look like it.
