I got enough scales to earn the lesser genetic mutator. I used it on a captured sylestie. Nothing happened, it didn't add anything, visible or carried. Is there a chance that it won't work? Or is it a glitch in the system?

My guess would be that the pet isn't tested and it received a carried trait.
