Can Greater Genetic Mutators be used to add new traits to old pets? Or is the chosen mutation limited to the time-frame of the captured pet?

Greater Mutators can add any trait, no matter when it was released or when the pet was captured. With the exception of special traits like Peacock on Griffis, Windchaser on luffox, and the essence-limited valentine lace and lucky dust.
