Just a thread to post your favorite quotes, sayings, idioms, proverbs, and other things of that nature.
It doesn't have to be from a famous person. It could be from anyone you have met in your life or even from a movie, song, game, other forms of media, or even yourself. x3
I love reading famous quotes. It is sort of like a hobby for me.
I even have a book of quotes called a Quotationary. xD
A-Anyways, I'll start:
"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana
"A match? No. This will be a massacre!" - Hakumen from BlazBlue

I'll have to do some digging for more, but here's a couple of my favorites.
"Do not compute the totality of your poultry population until all the manifestations of incubation have been entirely completed." - William Jennings Bryan
"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present." - Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)

Attributed to Dorothy Parker (and I love just about everything she ever said/wrote): "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity."
YA author John Green: "The Venn diagram of boys who don't like smart girls and boys you don't wanna date is a circle."
Off the top of my head, pretty good words to live by. :3

All of those quotes were really nice. I like them.
Some more:
"I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters."
- Frank Lloyd Wright
"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
- Albert Einstein

I have several
One of my Psychology Professors: Idle hands aren't the devils workshop, the idle mind is his workshop.
Rene Descartes: An optimist may see a light where there is none, but why must the pessimist always run to blow it out?
Cam on Modern Family: There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You'd think the dreamers would find the dreamers and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not the opposite is true. You see, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists, well without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.
Elbert Hubbard: Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.
The movie Gardenstate: Good luck exploring the infinite abyss.
Dan Rather: Courage is being afraid, but going on anyhow.

Most of mine are from fictional characters, of course. xD
"Only two kinds of people exist in this world, those who steal and those who are stolen from."
- Ciel Phantomhive (from Black Butler)
"I've got a... I've got a... a dwarf, and I'm not afraid to use him!"
- Victor Van Dort (from Corpse Bride)
"I do not smirk. But if I did, this would be a good opportunity."
- Worf (from Star Trek: Deep Space 9)
"Every villain is a hero in his own mind."
- Tom Hiddleston

Here are a few I'm currently in love with. Most of what I quote is Shakespeare or comes from literature. I've got a whole word document of beautiful prose from books I've read.
I’m not crazy about reality, but it’s still the only place to get a decent meal. —Groucho Marx
"You’re not destined or chosen, I wish I could tell you that you were if that would make it easier, but it’s not true. You’re in the right place at the right time, and you care enough to do what needs to be done. Sometimes that’s enough." -The Night Circus
Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. - William Shakespeare
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. - Shakespeare
We cross and re-cross our old paths like figure-skaters. - Cloud Atlas
"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one." - Firefly

^_^ I love those ones!
A German proverb *cleaned up*: There is no use running as fast as you can, if you are running on the wrong road.
Me, 8 years ago, during a bad gout of depression in the military, after several good friends passed away. *has multiple meanings*: An Eye for an Eye may leave every man blind, but it is only in that darkness, that one can truly see the light! (Once all have seen the ignorance of their actions, then you can move on to a better tomorrow!) (In the dark shroud of despair, you can see the brightest light of all, Hope.) (Even amongst the shroud of lies, the truth can be easily seen)

You guys have some great quotes. Here are some of my favorites:
"An idealist is someone who, upon discovering that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup." - H. L. Mencken
"Show me a young conservative, and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal, and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Winston Churchill
"Let us live in such a way that when we come to die, even the undertaker will be sorry." - Mark Twain
"You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here." - Jayne Cobb, Firefly
"Oh, this Twinkie thing, it ain't over yet." - Tallahassee, Zombieland
And two that are definitely related:
"Now, you might not believe it but under fire, Animal Mother's one of the finest human beings in the world. All he needs is somebody to throw hand grenades at him the rest of his life." - from Full Metal Jacket
"She would of been a good woman if it had been somebody there to shoot her every minute of her life." - the Misfit, A Good Man Is Hard to Find
