Answering last question first: there is no way to delete posts.

As to how to post pictures of your pets and your avatar: first, right click the image and choose 'copy image location' or 'copy image link' or similar (not sure which browser you're using). Then, go to your post and paste the link that you just copied. Should look something like this:

Then, depending on your comfort, you can either highlight the whole thing and hit the little button in the bar between your post and the 'ping users' section that say IMG, or just put image tags around it manually. Either way, it will look like this (minus the *s)
