I had this idea while being in the fall festival and running into a dark purple lupora with red eyes: possessed pets. This could be a fall festival event, or even something in the main storyline with all the zombie guys running around!
They might look a little bit like this (Used a Drayel because they are pretty common)
Perhaps with a sort of sparkle effect, or the red completely covering their eyes? And they wouldn't be themed pets- they would be un-tamable, due to the possession.


All in all, just a thought.
