Hello, everyone! My name is Mo, and I'm a bit new to Sylestia, as you can clearly see by my sparsely dressed avatar. I am not, however, new to roleplaying, as I've been doing it on and off with my friends (and my soon-to-be husband) for over 10 years now! I'm what you might call a connoisseur, haha. Anyway, I recently noticed that there are a good deal of RPers right here in Sylestia, and as it's been a long time since I made any new alliances, I thought I'd come on here and look for some like-minded individuals who might be interested in a Goosebumps-themed RP!

I don't really have any specific plot in mind, as I normally just like to jump right into the action and see where it goes, but if you're interested, and you have an idea, feel free to let me know! Alright, so there are a handful of stipulations involved, but not many. Firstly, you don't have to necessarily be all that knowledgeable about the Goosebumps universe to join in, so long as you pretty much get the basics. You might have been a fan of the old TV series, or a book collector like me, or you might have recently seen the movie. I'm even willing to teach you the gist, if you're interested and have no idea what this is all about.

Secondly, you are absolutely free to make up your own character for this, if you'd like to do that, or you can freely use any of the already-established characters from the varied Goosebumps universe. I don't have a preference either way, as I will be using both. On that note, feel free to hybridize, and alter an existing character to fit your needs. I'm not stingy with the lore.

Also, I would prefer to do this RP through PMs / e-mail for now, but if it ends up being popular enough, I might consider moving it onto the public forums. For now, here are a few rules and guidelines I'd like to get out of the way:

I'm looking to have a semi-literate RP, so please be able to use proper grammar and punctuation.

I'd prefer it if your responses could be at least 3 or 4 sentences long, but I understand there will be special circumstances sometimes. On that note, feel free to write me a whole novel, if you want.

Please don't use shorthand, chat-speak, or texting lingo, unless your character is actually texting someone / talking to someone on the internet.

Be aware that our tastes and styles may not necessarily match up, and sometimes role-players don't click. I will, however, do my best to accommodate, and I hope we can be fast friends!

Please be polite OOC, but don't feel any need to choose / make a goody-two-shoes kind of character. Your RP persona certainly isn't obligated to be nice.

Absolutely, positively NO god-modding! This is a game breaker for me! If you god-mod, I will not play with you.

If you choose to make your own character, please refrain from cookie cutter / Mary Sue types. There's nothing worse! Really.

Regardless of the source material, please try and avoid any overly OP abilities, like mind control, invincibility, etc. Some things that work in the books don't translate so well to an RP environment.

I prefer to RP in a third-person perspective. I have a really hard time with first-person games.

Cursing is fine by me. Don't feel like you need to censor yourself, but feel free to let me know what you're comfortable with. If you're sensitive to cursing, I don't mind keeping it to a minimum / not using it all.

Explicit sexual scenes are acceptable, so long as they make sense in the storyline.

Violence and gore are fine, and I would not consider myself a squeamish person at all. Again, if this is something you're not comfortable with, feel free to let me know. I don't mind doing a non-violent RP. It's all up to you.

Please don't try and play more characters at once than you can comfortably handle. If you just want to play one, that's great. If you want to play 10, that's fine too. Just make sure you can juggle them effectively.

When you PM me, please place the word "kumquats" somewhere in your message, so I can be sure you read this.

I'd like it if you could be active at least 2 or 3 days a week, at a minimum - but I'm more than willing to make exceptions for emergencies, and just life in general. I know things aren't always sunshine and lollipops.

If you choose to make your own character, or even alter one from the various Goosebumps universe, please include these things in your description, and whatever else you feel is appropriate.

Your character's physical appearance (I'd prefer some kind of picture to go on, but barring that, please make your description as detailed as possible).

Your character's full name.

Your character's approximate age (this may not apply).

Your character's gender (this might not apply either).

Your character's general personality.

A brief explanation of your character's history (at least 2 or 3 sentences, please).

Full Name: Slappy, the Living Dummy

Nicknames: Ol' Crazy Eyes, Mr. Wood, The Dummy That Is No Dummy, Smiley

Approximate Age: Unknown. Presumed to be in the hundreds.

Gender Associations: Male (?)

Personality: Generally puckish, and highly mischievous. His jokes and pranks can range from a harmless annoyance to full-blown bodily harm. Though he may seem charming, Slappy is best regarded with a healthy dose of suspicion, as he can be downright sadistic, and far away from trustworthy.

A Brief History Lesson: Carved out of coffin wood in a time since past, Slappy's wooden body is home to the waning spirit of a long-dead sorcerer. His brother, Wally, was carved in the same manner, and contained a fraction of similar power. There was a time when Slappy was fairly tame, and bullied by his older sibling, but the death of Wally Wood seemed to stir something inside him, as he's become far more cruel in the years since then.

Powers and Abilities: Though the full extent of Slappy's power is unknown, he has been seen to use a variety of potent spells, ranging from black magic to witchcraft. He can turn human beings to wood with his breath, like a basilisk turns people to stone. He also seems to exert some kind of authority over other monsters, though it isn't clear how.

Books and Media: Night of the Living Dummy 1-3, Bride of the Living Dummy, Slappy's Nightmare, Revenge of the Living Dummy, The Streets of Panic Park, Slappy New Year!, Son of Slappy, and the 2015 Goosebumps film.

Likes and Dislikes: Enjoys making up insults, cruel jokes, and terrible puns. Dreams of making the whole world his personal playground. Greatly dislikes termites.

Sample Roleplay: The tiny terror holds up his hand, revealing a glass marble with an unusual pattern and a crackled, green surface. This is what's left of the last guy you sent after me. All of it, in here. Scrunched, bunched.. and crunched. He quickly closes his hand, the articulated fingers wrapping around and obscuring the marble from view, but she could hear it splintering in his grasp. He cackles with laughter. That piercing, high-pitched trill she's come to know in her dreams.

So...we can play as "monsters" or humans, right?

In hindsight, I probably should've said that somewhere in the original post.

Yeah :) I don't know, pretty much anything about goosebumps, so you'll have to teach me. But I always jump at the chance to make a new monster :) any plot ideas or should we wing it.

But yeah, I'd be happy to teach you! As far as plot ideas go, I don't have anything set in stone. I have a few ideas floating around in my skull, but I usually just kind of try to work them into whatever we're doing at the time.

Hey, uh, sorry it took me so long to respond. :) I had no idea what to say to your post. Um, well, I would like to be some sort of reptilian monster or beasty so if you wanted to be a group of humans or another monster, whatever works. Should I make a character and let you go from there?

Oh, it's fine. Don't worry about it. I probably should've said more, but I didn't even think about it at the time. Sorry about that! ( >-_-)>

I'll probably be RPing as another monster too, but I don't think it'll be a problem.
And yeah, I think the easiest thing to do would be to get our characters set up, and then we can figure out how to progress from there. Also, if you have any questions, or concerns, or anything like that, don't be afraid to let me know!

Like this except his orange spots are only on the undersides of his wings, also he walks on his wings (kinda like a bat). He is about twice the size of a large horse

He doesn't really have a name but he is called The Scourge of Black Manor

I haven't decided, not sure it matters in his case.

He is very territorial, aggressive and stubborn.

He hatched in the woods behind Black Manor and completely devastated the town before they managed to lock him away inside his the old mansion. Trapped and without food, the wyvern slept, hibernating, waiting for a time when he could awake and feast upon warm flesh.

A sampling of your character's abilities.
He can send blood rushing to his wings causing the dull orange to brighten into a flame-like shade of the color. The barb on the end of his tail is filled with a deadly poison and the small poisonous spines on his tail can shot at will (like a deadly nadder from httyd). His breath is slightly corrosive and he can shoot acid from his throat pouch.

Any relation your character has with the Goosebumps universe (specific books, the recent movie, other GB characters, etc.) Um, no clue :)

Any other information you feel is relevant. My only concern is that my creature might have trouble communicating.

The wyvern's eyes drift open and he sniffs tentatively at the musty air of the decaying manor. Something's changed he thinks, tasting the air, his forked tongue flicking in and out. But what? he growls, his rumbling voice echoing through the abandoned halls. He studies his surroundings, the destroyed cracked cavern that was once the basement of Black Manor. The Scourge of Black Manor, he snorts angrily, some Scourge I've been. His eyelids droop sleepily, when the humans return to my home they will see, they will all see.
