Life for Sylestis in the mountains has gotten too harsh to continue, so a group of scouts is sent from the mountains to search for a new home in the forests and plains below. Without anything to guide them except the sun, moon, and stars, and a hope for a new world, it is all up to them to survive and prosper.

Sea Foam sighed quietly to herself as she looked for something to eat. Living in the mountains wasn't easy, especially when there wasn't much food these days. Herbivores such as herself had a slightly easier time compaired to the carnivores but it still wasn't easy. Most of what Sea Foam found was brought back for those who were too young or too old go out themselves. She heard a whinny of frustration coming from her campanion; a slightly younger Qitari named Black Rose. By the sounds of it, he wasn't having any better luck than she had finding food.

"I don't think we're going to find anything here, Sea Foam," Black Rose said, coming to stand next to her, "This area seems to have already been picked clean. We just might have to look farther away."

Sea Foam looked of into the distance as she thought about what the colt had said. "That is dangerous though. To leave the territory runs a greater risk of coming acrossed a predator," and they had enough problems without adding a chance to become someone's lunch to it. "We'll return to the others and decide what to do then," the mare finally decided, heading back to the herd with Black Rose following.

Grey Claw patrolled the edge of his pride, wanting to make sure no rouge predators tried to come and steal what little food as left on their lands. Besides some hunting, it was really the only thing the aging Lighira was good at. He has always been more of a warrior than anything else. But the food shortage has been troubling him more and more. Even the herbivores were having trouble finding something to eat. Grey Claw knew that things could not continue like this; something had to give. But what? And when? He didn't know, and it was not knowing that worried him. As a warrior if you didn't know something you could very well end up dead. However, no one seemed to want to take any action to rectify the situation. Perhaps he will have to be the one to come up with an answer for once. These thoughts and more ran through his mind as he continued his parole.

Ghost Wisp hums as she plays with her own tail. She was sitting in her tree alone thinking of how she could help find food for the clan. She could happily go off and find a new home for her friends but that would take more than she had in her at the time since she was having trouble finding anything to eat. She sighs looking up at the sky, her pupiless eyes being able to gaze on the stars even during the day which was not as cool as it sounded seeing that her world was always dark. She chooses one and makes a wish for hope.


Little Red hops along sniffing for the clover she so dearly loved. She had been searching all day, everywhere there was signs but none was left. Little Red didn't wish to eat the other grasses, all of them were too tough for her to eat. She sighs as well, not knowing what she had that would help.


Secret Wisp sat in his den, his icey orbs floating around his head. He was thinking of the world and how he could change it. He stands walking out in the sun letting it warm his cold body, though the ice that floated around his face refused to leave. He needed to tak to the leader, to plan.

Red Whisper was hunting around a pile of rocks. Surely she could find something to eat. Something flashed in the corner of her eye. She lowered herself to the ground, her snowy stomach pressing against the hot stones. The pride had picked the area clean and the rains were yet to come. They would need to leave if it continued like this. That's what her brother thought anyway. Rowan Heart (Fire Heart) had confided in her. He was a favorite for the next deputy, although all hoped he wouldn't need to be.

Rowan Heart had just come back from an unsuccessful hunting trip. He slumped down in the hollow of the fallen tree where he made his den. They couldn't continue like this, unsuccessful hunting trip after unsuccessful hunting trip.

Feather Talon was trotting dejectedly back to camp, when she noticed the two Qitari, Sea Foam and Black Rose, looking for any remaining foliage. While she was mostly a meat-eater, Zolnixi could and would eat berries and the like if times got desperate, which they certainly were. It seemed like all of the food supplies had totally tried up. This was definitely one of the worst winters the Tribe had ever been through, and it didn't seem like it was going to get any better. Still, she decided to help the two, and broke off to go to them.

"I think there might be some berries and bushes left around the other side of the mountain, if you'd like to search there," she offered. "Though, we might need to bring some stronger warriors and guards. There are some Morkko and larger predators over on that side that might want to make a meal of us." With food so scarce, she didn't doubt that they'd pounce at the chance to grab an unprotected Sylesti or two.

Sea Foam paused when she noticed a Zolnixi coming toward them from the corner of her eye. While she was on guard, the mare wasn't too worried. Zolnixi didn't usually go after big prey on their own but Sea Foam was still on the look out in case Feather Talon had others hiding away.

Black Rose perked up at the mention of possible food, he glanced at Sea Foam to see what she thought of the information. "It does sound promising," Sea Foam started a bit hesitantly, "But where will we find someone willing to escort us there?" She really didn't want to take the risk if there wasn't a chance to come back a live.

"I can go back and ask some of my tribemates if they'll follow. Don't worry, we're not interested in eating you," she told them quickly. Her Tribe had made a pact long ago that they would never eat a fellow Sylesti. These Qitari were in no danger, and she wanted to make sure they knew that. "My brother is a warrior, himself, and I know a few of the other warriors. If I go talk to them they might help."

[is anyone else close to Feather Talon and the others?]

(Well depending where the territory lines are, maybe they might know Grey Claw? He does a lot of patroling on his own so maybe they've ran into each other at times and have develop a respect for each other?)

Sea Foam thought about it. It really did sound like the best idea so far. And there are those that could really use some food right now. So giving a nod, the young mare turned back to Feather Talon, "Alright. It seems to be the best plan right now." Though she did turn to Black Rose, "If you want to come, you will stay close. I won't risk you getting killed by a large predator."

"I know, I'll stay close," Black Rose said, understanding that they will be going into dangerous territory.

[Hmm, alright]

"If you'd like, you can follow me back to the Tribe's cave," Feather Talon offered, pausing as she turned, ready to lead them away if they wanted. The two seemed nervous, and she didn't blame them; anything could be lurking in the shadows, ready to strike.

Meanwhile, on another side of the territory, Sun Leaf was actually doing her hunting job for once. Even she was desperate enough to try to hunt. Noticing a small mouse in the distance, she dropped into a crouch, sliding forward and preparing to pounce. However, as soon as she did, she slammed into a much larger form as the mouse ran off, and she let out a bark of surprise.

Falling backwards, Sun Leaf looked up at what had stopped her -- a huge male Lighira. Gasping in fear, she froze, her eyes going wide. "I-I-I'm sorry, I didn't--"
