*roars* Yes! Another Fallout fan, finally. I've only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas, as my sibs and I were first exposed to 3 by a bro's friend. However, by way of Shoddycast and their Fallout Lore series, with the beloved Mysterious Narrator/ The Storyteller and E.D.N.A., the plot points and other intricacies for the first two games became clear. I prefer Fallout 3 in that 3 has Moira Brown and, unless there is someone fitting the description in the DLCs (which I don't have), I dislike New Vegas in in not adding a character that was even in trace amounts as ridiculously optimistic especially about Megaton's star witness, that it felt a bit...drab. I prefer New Vegas in it having the ability to pick factions to work with and how far to a point over 3 where it was all rather linear with pretty much the only optional points of diversion from it coming in the form of side quests. Oh, and while I'm on the topic of factions, Boomers forever! *cough* I like that Wild Wasteland perk adding a few extra hilarious quirks to New Vegas as well, but, overall I was impressed that the location was new, and that you had different terrain. I don't mind that it didn't seem all that different in the desolate settlements are few and far between portion, the main quests were rather riveting, and the weapons were somewhat improved. I still feel New Vegas is a bit boring, because I like the main mission but I love 3's side quests. The Wasteland Survival Guide alone, and so many others that make almost every mission not linked to the main ones or the vaults seem like dust in comparison. Granted the DLCs did way more in enhancing the main plot than 3's ever did, it still leaves it feeling mixed. That and honestly, the combination of the distinctly different feels of each 3 DLC only made it more endearing. If not go back to a save before you enter Zeta and get through the whole thing, finding all the audio diaries without laughing. I remember both variations having areas I'd explored that clearly had some after thought of potential main or side quest spins that were cut off, I can't remember the one for New Vegas. As for 3 though, come on. Case in point, Mama Dolce's. They were going to use the Peoples of America radio broadcast to send you toward Mama Dolce's where you find mildly unexpected enemies and something. Yet, they cut that DLC from the line-up. They could have done a courtesy of removing all content to it or at least removed the broadcast and tweaked the enemies a bit to make it more of an average unimportant to main quest building you could explore.
Hopefully there won't be discontinued areas, but I find it hard to resist the urge to doubt that hope. There is supposed to be more factions, 1000+ names in the database that if you happen to pick it will be spoken in-game, and a homage to the old version of the leveling system. Have you watched the videos Bethesda put on Youtube for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes, their hilarious. My little brother is psyched that they seem to bringing back the perk that's just right for ''long-distance relationships''. Once a new one comes out he pretty much leans far enough out of his seat to nearly fall off in an attempt to decipher what the perks are. Anyway, I'll stop my rambling there and I apologize if my somewhat strong opinion finds something that you don't agree with, but that's bound to happen at some point anyway, so my apology stands ahead of time. |
