I don't know if there's necessarily a fail-safe solution but I have found that if the theme is relatively new (e.g. the exclusives from this year's Spring Festival) you can often search hatchlings and adolescences for sale and then look for the colour scheme that matches the relevant exclusive... Then its just a matter of double-checking their lineage to ensure they are, in fact, purebred.

I suppose it would work the same for themes that are not new (particularly if you are happy to limit yourself to hatchlings and adolescences) but your searches would missing those purebred offspring that have had time to grow to adulthood. Looking through adults for sale I imagine would be extremely onerous as there are so many of them.

The other alternative that I can think of is, if you know someone who regularly breeds themed and sells offspring, you could trace down through the lineage from the original themed pets until you find one for sale - pretty onerous though and no guarantees you'd find one for sale.
