I have captures a Sylesti I want to breed with. It's an adult. I've read, that I can somehow find other peoples pets to breed with, because I only have this one Sylesti of this species. But when I go to the Breeding Ground, there are no pets displayed at all, not even my own. What am I doing wrong?

In order to breed with somebody else's pet, you have to go directly to that pet's profile page. You can find pets that are available for breeding via the Advanced Search, which is located on the left side of the page (or at the top, on the older layout). Here is a link. There, you can select the species, gender, and traits. Make sure you click "For Breeding: Yes" at the bottom. You can also set the minimum and maximum price you're willing to pay.

When the list of pets comes up at the bottom of the screen, you'll want to click on the one you want to breed with. On its profile page, there is a button that says "View Prices." A pop-up menu will show up, giving you the option to chose which pet you want to breed, and buttons to breed or purchase the pet.

As you know, you can breed a male and female adults of the same species by going to the "Breeding Grounds". To breed two pets together; they must both be adults of the same species and opposite gender and you have to own them (--> having them in your stables). So you can't go into the Breeding Grounds for breeding with other players.

To breed with other people's pets, the other person's pet must be set up for public breeding:
Have a look at my stable, there you can see a heart-symbol below of some pet-images (in the icon bar of the stalls). It shows you, that these pets are set up for breeding --> like my Kahli.
Now, by visiting the pet you can see at it's 'Information' an option called 'view prices'. If the option is available, click on it. A pop-up window will appear prompting you to pick an eligible mate to breed with. It has to be one of your pets and of the opposite gender of the visited pet - By the way: You can not breed two pets of another player together: You would have to contact the him/her and ask for the offspring ;3
Well, once you select your pet, click "Breed" - If successful, you will be redirected to your hatchery where your new eggling will automatically be added.
The only way this will fail is if you try to breed with a recovering female. She will not give you an egg, if you want to breed with her, you have to wait for her to 'cool-down'. You can find the information for that in the 'Genetics' area on the pets site: for example *Mated with -name of the pet-* Recovering Until: x/x/20xx at yy:yyAM
After the cooldown you can breed with the pet again^^

Another way for finding pets to breed with would be the Advanced Search. There you can look precisely for pets of a specific species, that would be set up for public breeding.
