So I've been setting up a new project sales forum, and my prices have gotten... rather ridiculous...

To account for the gold value of the philter itself, it's about 300k to 450k ADDED to the pet in question (depending on the diamond/gold value which usually fluctuates between 2000 and 3000 per diamond.) And since I deal primarily in 6-vis themes, that's... that's a lot of gold.

Not to mention the smaller projects that wouldn't have a high price tag, EXCEPT for the a'cursed high-priced philter! Want to sell a project pet for 50k, but still don't want people to be able to breed it and make their own? Too bad for you! Unless of course you don't mind gouging your own wallet or gold stocks and taking a 250-400k NEGATIVE gold value on the sale, instead of making a profit on your own work.

Yeah... RIDICULOUS.

So I suggest an 'exceptional' version. Much like the Exceptional Genetic Testing Kit and the Exceptional Genetic Scanner, it would be REUSABLE. Meaning breeders can make the initial investment, and set their pet prices to something much more reasonable while still protecting the project's overall value with the infertility feature - ideal for big projects and small projects alike! (Especially those small ones... I have a few 4-vis projects in mind and I would really... really not want to sell them for a whopping 500k and only make like 50k in actual profit... I'd much rather sell them at a reasonable 50k)

I definitely support this!

I'd buy an Exceptional Philter of Infertility, but as it stands right now, I don't plan to buy any Philters of Infertility. Just too expensive, I don't have that much gold to pass off on a project.

I'm probably a stickler, but I think that the current infertility philter can do for now.
Might need to give Sylestia (the playerbase) time to:

a) go into beta, and hopefully there have more efficient methods to make gold to make up for the gold gap

b) stabilize pet prices so pets more accurately reflect prices that are inclusive of infertility (yes inclusive of 350k)

I don't know if I would have supported this if I didn't have a project worth applying infertility to. I remember that I would like to breed with pets for the sole purpose of furthering their genes in the gene pool, and to that extent I'd be picky of who to buy my pets from. I don't know if other players in the community are as picky as me, or if they don't mind paying for infertility, or if infertility is just a big hurdle not worth using.

I would say that this can be a cool suggestion maybe a year down the road or until Sylestia's new version comes out (I'm sure that the admins may take a number of suggestions into consideration as they recreate the site), because Sylestia's economy is still new in a sense (especially an economy that's trying to incorporate the infertility philter).
But for now, until further evidence shows that "250k-400k" is a lot to many players and pets that are worth philtering, or "gouging your own wallet or gold stocks" is just too much for a player's many projects, I think it's a bit unfair to slam down the price.

I won't deny that lowering the cost of the philter is also a good suggestion, as that's probably everyone's problem. I won't deny that making it scale-bought is a good one either.

I also won't deny that there are players that don't want their projects to be exploited. But I can imagine ramifications if many players (okay just the players that want to invest in infertility, maybe a good fraction of players that paid money for exceptional test kits and are breeders) buy up this "exceptional philter" and apply it to all the projects they own. And that gives rise to something that a player in the OTHER thread mentioned: a population of unbreedable pets in a breeding game. (I can't remember the user who said it I'm sorry.)

(And while some players can assume that they wouldn't go all out and make all pets unbreedable with an exceptional philter the same way players want to test every untested pet they're given, again, the idea of an expensive philter being good or bad or ineffective can be seen with time.)

I was personally really bummed when I saw that the philter of infertility had been created. I value my stable space and have a really hard time wrapping my mind around paying hundreds of thousands of gold for a pet that I won't be able to do anything with beyond leveling and stuff like that. I'm here for the breeding [until new areas are released, of course] and when I sign up to buy a project, I'm thinking about how the colors will mesh with the pets I currently have. I'm not a mass breeder, but breeding is a big part of why I've stuck around on Sylestia for so long. I love breeding my pets and seeing what beauts I can create. I pay large sums of gold for project pets because I want to be able to do things with them, build upon the colors and traits. Before Zzzz left, they had a rainbow Qitari thread [which has been passed on to a different user] and he said something about using the infertility philter on sold 6-visual offspring if it was released before the projects were finished. I almost got really upset about that but ended up silently praying that the philter wasn't created. I buy pets to breed them. I'm not going to recreate designs, but I do want to breed them.

We are monitoring the philter closely and will most definitely expand on it in the future.

As for your concern, Yumi, that's the push for players to create their own breeding projects which ultimately helps to preserve the value of them - which is why we added the philter.

I do understand why people would want to use the philter on project pets, it's just that I'm a very practical person just by my personality. I'd be more willing to pay MORE gold for a project pet if it meant I could kinda....bribe the person out of philtering it, so to say. Like I said, I personally value my stable space too much to fill a slot with a pet that I can't breed. I want practical pets. I look for colors and traits that mesh well and a decent price. I'm not upset about the philter being created nor do I not understand why users would use it, but I will rethink my interest in other user's projects if I get a forum ping where they say they're going to philter all sold offspring.
