Newbie here asking what is probably an obvious question, but I've scanned through a few pages and I can't find an answer to it.

Is there any philter that makes a carried gene into a visible one? I know there are philters to add a gene - is it the same one as that?

Thanks in advance!

nope. the philters that add genes can only add them to blank spaces that have no vis or carried traits.

you could breed a pet in hopes the trait would become visible in the baby

Lesser Genetic Mutators will add a random carried gene to any open slot (sometimes a random visible), Greater Genetic Mutators will allow you to pick a visible trait to add to any open slot.

Other than that, you'd have to breed to get the visible trait.. there are some excellent breeding guides in the "Player Guides" section of the forums that can explain it much better than me.. and they have pictures! :P

Edit
They recently added a Nullification Philter that will remove a trait.. so if you really wanted to you could use one of those to remove the carried trait and then use a Greater Mutator to add it back at visible.. but mutators can only be used on tamed pets, and only once.

Yeah, that was my plan until I saw the whole, 'tamed pets only' thing :/ We'll see.
