I started my very first dedicated pet breeding project earlier today but although I read a few guides I am still hopelessly lost. Could someone with some experience in breeding pets please help me get my project going? My goal is to have a set of grey 6-vis Sylvorpas but so far I only have 2 Regular generated Sylvorpas that came out with the wrong colours. Please PM me if you think you would be able to help. I saved a picture of what the end result should look like to the Pet Designs section of the generator.

I know its not really much, but, from someone who breeds on and off, here's two things you want to adhere to if you want to someday get a 6vis out of a few pets:

1. Focus on getting all 6 traits onto as many pets as possible. (usually 6carry minimum)
2. After doing number 1, focus on getting those carries into visibles.

Many people have different approaches with their projects. Some prefer to start with all vis parents, then breed multi-carrying offspring that breeds with each other to make some-vis/some-carried offspring, then build on those.
Others may prefer to just start with all carries, and try to breed them those to result in more visibles (or just more usable offspring), and so on.

Others may not even use generated essences. Cheaper alternative can be to just buy sylvorpas off the Pet Search with traits that you want (usually other breeders sell their stuff cheaply, and getting the traits you want will be less of a hassle if they come together on the same pet).
After breeding those bought pets together, you can recolor the final result (into statue colors for example), which is much cheaper than multitudes of generated essences (even if the colors would come out wrong, you can just buy more dyes).

I would suggest (after learning how genetics work, particularly the rates of how breeding visibles and carries work, how to make Punnett Squares and stuff) drawing up genetic maps that show how many generations it would take to get a favorable end result. Here's an example of a 6vis project using 16 generated pets, or one using 3vis enhanced generated pets.
Having a rough idea of how the breeding will work out before you start gathering what pets you want will help you figure how you want to do your project.

edit: This is just my way of approaching projects, and I haven't done one in awhile aha. There's other ways to breed, of course. :) Check out this 6vis breeding guide by Xavion to see how she does it.

I wouldn't worry too much about exact colors right now as they will change over the course of the breeding.. especially with gray. In the end you can use pet dyes to change them as needed.

I would get a few more regular essences, use the ones you have and then generate one more of each gender. Your pets both have traits AB right now, so I would generate one with CD and one with EF. When breeding, one pair AB & CD and one pair AB & EF. If you keep the 3 carry and 4 carry and release the others it will help with stable space. Then, try to use those 3 and 4 carries to breed the 5 or 6 carries and so on. I try to keep 5 breeding pairs going at a time, any more floods my stables and confuses me, any less is too slow for my liking. '

I'm not sure if it's the best or most efficient way, but it seems to work better for me.

Once you understand the percentages it's much easier to plan things out. If I remember correctly:

If only one parent carries a trait: 25% chance to produce an offspring that carries it.
If both parents carry a trait: 25% to get visible, 50% to get a carry, 25% chance for nothing.
If one carries and one has visible: 75% chance to get visible, 25% to get a carry.
