First off, I love the new generator! So much easier to use and I like that we can browse other people's saved pets easily. There are a few things that would be nice if added, and I *think* they'd be a simple addition..

1) Give an option when saving the pet to mark it as "Themed", so when browsing it shows a Gold Star or something (might be confusing with the "favorite" star). While browsing through I found myself thinking "is that a themed or original?" more than a few times.

2) When browsing saved pets, it would be awesome if you could click on the pet image and have it open to a larger size, as it's hard to see detail on some of them with such a small image.


3) See who has favorited our designs. (Suggested by Katasaur)

I think something like your first suggestion might be nice. :)

For the second one, if you want to see a larger version, you can select it and click the "load to generator" button at the bottom. A few extra clicks then just having a preview pop up, but it is possible.

Also, I think it would be nice if we could see who favorited our designs.

I'm all for all three suggestions in here so far. I haven't put any of my themed project ideas up yet for exactly the reason stated: i want to be able to mark it as a themed project and not get it confused with my original projects. It would also be nice to just click the image and see a larger version, rather than load the whole thing just to see it. And I'd really, really love to know who's favouriting my designs. It would help me to let interested people know when I start projects, and when I complete them ^.^

Actually, going back that "larger preview" suggestion, I think that would be a much better idea than allowing people to load the designs in the generator, as it is currently.
Personally, I don't like the idea of people putting my designs into the generator and using them without my permission. Maybe that's petty of me, but I like my designs to be unique. I realize that If I save my designs publicly, many users may use them as inspiration. I'm not saying I'm not ok with that. I just have an issue with someone else trying to take credit for them. If they want to use my designs, then favorite them, don't repost them.
I've already noticed several duplicate designs in the public design list, posted by different users. (As in, someone took the design someone else made, and then uploaded them again as their own). This makes me very uncomfortable. I just had one of my qitari designs reposted, and it really irked me.
I know if someone really wanted to repost a design, they could still copy the URL, but as it is right now, it just makes it that much easier. I may not continue to save my designs publicly if this is going to continue to happen.

I just came over here to suggest removing the ability to open other's designs in the generator. I like sharing what my designs look like, but I don't like others being able to open the design, then resave it as their own design. It would even be fine if the 'save design' option was greyed out when you opened someone else's design. Of course, looking at the time stamp, you can see which posting is the 'original', but as Kata was saying, it makes it so much easier for someone else to just come along and create a design out from under you, which is something I really don't like (and would make me want to save all my designs privately instead of publicly, which I think is a shame).

For marking a design as a theme or not, I'm not quite sure I understand. You're allowed to name them whatever you want, just name them appropriately.

For the larger image, as suggested, you can just load it into the generator to see the details. That's the point. =P

As for not allowing others to load your design... then save it privately and not publicly. Graying out the button wouldn't do anything anyway because you can just copy and paste thr URL.

Maybe just add a flag button if someone reposts someone else's design? Then the one that was reposted later can be removed. People can see who the original designer is by looking at the time it was added. But it can still be a problem, because everyone is not going to look through all the designs to favorite the earliest of that particular design.

That would open the door to griefing. We already have to deal with that sometimes during the themed design 'contest'. And most of the time, Fai and I don't even think the designs were copied. So I feel like a feature like that would cause more harm than good.

I mean, the generator designs are there if you want to use it, but are by no means whatsoever required for anything. So if you don't want your designs to be taken by others or copied, then the best solution is to simply just mark your designs as private.

The only suggestion I have for the generator that I'd like to see implemented is the ability to "view by time created" in reverse. As it is, you can only view newest to oldest. I'd like to view oldest to newest as well. :)

I'd personally really love to see a way to sort the designs you've got saved, assuming nothing like that exists already. Aside from that, the only thing that comes to mind is a way to search by design name, instead of just the designer name, if that makes sense?
