During my last battle I wanted to use a healing potion. However, under the pictures of the pets it just has a blank white area, so I can't select any potions. I do have potions that can be used in battle in my inventory (I double checked).

In the original explore system (first and second region), you hit the red arrow, hit 'use item', select the item, then select the pet to use it on.
And only Elixirs can be used in battle.
Is that what you're trying?

Elixirs, yeah, that's what I meant. Today it's working, yesterday the 'use item' and 'close' buttons weren't showing up. It may have been on my end, I was having some internet issues yesterday.
